i think there are too many threads over here and im really confused what i should do now. what are the useless acer softwares i shud remove and what updates i shud do of the drivers. the information is too scattered around n i think its a good idea if all of the info was in one thread for all 5920G owners :)

btw i got it for aed 4499. divide it by 3.675 for $$. is it a good price?

    This is what I did:

    Made recovery disk
Clean install of vista (and forgot to delete the recovery partition)
    Installed all acer drivers manually

Your lappie will be running much faster then when you first started it.

Acer eRecovery that came preinstalled on your laptop. Just run this program. It's so easy, you can not do anything wrong. You'll need 2 DVD's

When you say "clean install of Vista", do you mean your own copy? Or is there a way to install Vista Clean from the recovery partition?

No I had my own copy, but you can use the serial that is on the bottom of you laptop. I don't know if you can use you recovery disks to just install vista and not all the rest.
I think I will never use the recovery disks ever again, but you never know...

With this laptop I don't think complete reinstall is necessary. Again, this is just my personal opinion. I really like Acer softwares, and I suggest you to try them out before reformatting. Also, after some tweakings my system flies.

Yes, I think you can do that. But I always keep thinking that things are left behind in the registry and stuff... I never got the feeling that uninstalling programs speed up my system.

    a) No, I don't think you can do anything about that. It's actually the same kind of light as the one for you HDD. When there's traffic, it's blinking.

    b) I think you are accidentally pushing the record touchbutton next to the right arrow. You can adjust the sensitivity of these buttons in the program "acer Mediatouch". Or uninstall it if you don't use the mediabuttons on the side of your laptop.

Just install the Touchpad driver from acer (look on there website) Then you'll automatically install an application called Acer mediatouch where you can configure your touchpad and your touch sensitive media buttons on the right

You have in control panel under the addiitonal options acer mediatouch panel where you can adjust buttons.

I have a question. When I start my laptop it load s vista desktop for 40 secs then it seems like it stops loading for 40 secs and then antivirus and other applications load. Is this familiar to you or smth isn"t ok with my machine?

    I have vista home premium.

How did you tweak your Acer 5920G Laptop with vista? Is this taking off the memory hangry aero effect and other graphics related feature of vista? if not then what software did you use or things you did?

    Hi TUrsca

I did a few things with my 5920G, I hope this things can help you :) The first time I had my 5920G I made recovery disck using Acer eRecovery software. There were to back up disks I made, "Acer Factury Settings" and "Application and Driver Backup". The Acer Factury Settings disk needs 2 DVDs and is used to reinstall vista and as well as the drivers and Acer related afotwares. The Application and Driver Back Up Disc is needed for installing the dirvers of your 5920G or Acer related software just encase you uninstalled it. I was able to reinstall Vista in my 5920G since is performing slow. Now its a bit faster.

I have that same issue. It seems windows loads half the programs, and widgets, stops then loads the rest in a few secs later. What's with the pause?

Where did you find the drivers? Also, can you use the built in SD slot and a SD memory card instead of a USB flash drive?

Got a few problems with my 5920G : (dunno if they are problems :p)

    1) Acer enet management occasionally keeps disconnecting and reconnecting (in a matter of 2 seconds) its irritating to read ("Internet Disconnected") and "Internet Connected" all the time

    2) The laptop is not all that loud, not as loud as my old old toshiba. are there any settings to make it loud? and is there any place where i can test the dolby speakers? they seem normal speakers to me :(

    3) Video Playback : since yesterday its stopping and stuttering. WHY is it happening to me?! its not even a week old

4)the heat. omg, the heat. i dont even run many programs and the top left gets super hot. i havent even properly utilized my graphic card till now. Will report temperatures later

5)ive noticed the launch manager is required for the touch buttons to work. so if i install xp, i lose control over the touch sensitive buttons?

Q1-It's maybe due to vista bugs.try all vista updates (some not available from auto update,so go microsoft site and serch)
    OR
    Update your intel wifi drivers

Q2-Don't know about that much.i also have question about dolby speakers

Q3-Have you update your video drivers?Nvidia drivers have video stuttering issue.Try latest Nvidia driver and K-lite codecs pack

Q4-I also notice that. When i play games GPU hit 90c(OC) & CPU hit 75C +.I think BIOS have fan controlling bug,B'coz with my OLD bios VGA never hit 90C(OC) & CPU never pass 75C.

Q5-No .Touch sensitive buttons controlled by touch pad driver.you can configure.BTW you'll miss some features

I don't think it gets that hot. When I'm just surfing the internet, or watching a movie, it stays pretty cool. OK, it gets a little warm when you play games, but it's not that you can't touch the top left corner of your laptop anymore because of the heat. MY Dell latitude D505 could get a lot hotter. In my opinion, this laptop doesn't have a heat problem. :) I love it.
