Model: Acer Aspire 5253 running Windows 7 Home Premium, computer will be a year old in August- never been dropped or wet.

My computer peeps out of the area near the RH speaker, the one closest to the screen hinge. It does this with a 3-4 second interval between peeps. Then the mouse buttons stop working, but the pointer will still move. After that, the mousepointer won't move and the keyboard craps out.

I have to hold the round power button to shut it off, then I wait and turn it back on. It asks me about safe mode, etc.

    What could be wrong?

    Thanks.

Only thing I can think of is the motherboard capacitors crapping out. They basically manage the power spikes throughout the system.

    Also look at temperatures.
