yesterday my son (6 years old) got mad and spit on my laptop. i got mad, but just wiped it off and went on with my day. later i went to use the laptop, and all the desk top icons went away and the laptop kept making a dinging sound like when you click or do something. then any time i go to type any thing, the letter d keeps showing. like if i was holding the d button down. then i remembered he spit on the d and e button.i popped the buttons off and tried to dry them and even took some compressed air dust cleaner and sprayed. the keys are dry and look fine. i left the laptop on all night to try and dry out the keys or what ever is wrong. what do you think is wrong? and how should i go about fixing it? i just got this laptop 6 days ago. the specs of it is in my signature. please give me some info! than you very much.

    ckblood05, welcome to the forums!
Sorry to hear that your kid damaged your laptop's keyboard; it's not every day that this gets posted on the board, so you'll have to excuse us for being stumped.

In the unlikely event Best Buy/Acer refuse to repair the keyboard (because that is ALL that is damaged, as far as I can tell from your story), you can purchase a replacement and perform the repair yourself if you're techie enough.

Oh, and you've put your system specs in your profile, not your signature.
Click this link to access your signature page - it'll be added to the bottom of each of your forum posts.

You can also try waiting. I spilled a large amount of ethanol on a keyboard. After a week or so, it started working.

Sounds like a weird problem, especially because of the icons issue.
I'd go in and disconnect the keyboard.
Then try to boot up with an external USB keyboard connected.

Easy enough to buy a new keyboard on eBay for under $20.
