    hi,

my tm2428's fan is ALWAYS on...even though the laptop is always cool...i have tried obvious things, such as setting the power profile to a low cpu speed...so i downloaded RMClock but am not sure how to use it...

i'll give the numbers here, and perhaps someone could interpret and tell me what settings to change...i know these numbers are constantly changing, but these figures i'm giving remain pretty constant for using word and firefox:

CPU Core clock and throttle: 1729-1733 and 1222-1224
CPU load and OS load: 14-27% and 2-17%
FID and VID: 13 and 1.356
    cpu core temp: n/a

i really don't know what this program does, but my google searches all suggest this RMclock program...could someone please tell me what settings i should have????
OR any other possible solutions that involves other programs...

    thanks...

Hi, I have the same problem

I have a TM 2428AWXMi since 2 months and it runned perfectly quiet (cpu wasnt sollicited).

And since today, the fan is always on even the hard drive is 32c and the cpu 38c. I can't fix this problem even if I shut down and switch on again the laptop.

I use notebook hardware to lowing the voltage and the frequency, and the fan is still on.

    Please need some help.

Have you tried updating the BIOS to the lastest version. A BIOS update can sometimes remedy problems with fans. If you processor temperature isn't high, then the fan shouldn't really be on, unless the fan is shared with say another heat producing component, like a graphics card which is running at a high temperature.

Also, use a number of different programs to measure the temperature, as it could be that some report the temperature incorrectly.

My Acer laptop has a program called Acer eManager and it has an option to always keep the fans on or to turn them on when needed. I don't know if the TM2428 uses eManager or the newer Empowering Technology versions, but you should check out the eSettings section of eManager or play around in the Empowering Technology programs if you have either installed.
