Hello, i wanted to upgrade the bios to the latest version from acer website.. i currently was running 1.18 phoneix bios.. and in acer website there was version of 1.28. since i have temperatures issues, i wanted to upgrade bios.

I flashed with windows 7 32bit home premium. After flashing, laptop just turned off, then i press turn on button and all booted good. windows loaded and password login screen appeared. I was like: wait, i dint saw the bios version cause i dint payed attention, so i clicked on red button in right corner down, and select restart. then after restarting, it shows bios, acer logo and so, and starts boot windows 7, then windows 2 first logo flying balls shows, then freezes, blue screen... and restarts again. and same over and over again.
i cant start windows 7 anymore.

Please help :/ what should i do now?

    It's not a BIOS issue- it's a windows issue.
Use the last good config at boot (F8) or Windows retail disk where you can repair Windows that refuses to start.

I'm sorry but this is not a solution to your problem. Just wanted to dip my hand in. I also own an Acer 5738 and have terrible terrible overheating issues with it... I had tried upgrading BIOS but that had also run into a problem where the system kept shutting down (after running for some time though). I was somehow able to restore the BIOS of the system but am still stuck with the overheating laptop at square one...

So I am also looking forward to the advice that comes.

Last known good configuration dont helps. same happens. i let also fix the startup by selecting the repair mode, that it shows when its crashes. that arent helped to.. and at ending it said something like: windows cant completle fix it itself..
well ok, im gona insert windows dvd and select some options to try repair.

how u managed to restore bios? how u did that?
and, i will try also undervolt it to fix heating... but thats later. now help me fix this horrible issue, im scared to lose my files and settings :/

As I said - the laptop was crashing but was crashing after working for sometime - like 10-15 minutes or so. So I just "downgraded" the BIOS (so to speak)...

If laptop used to work fine and now Windows doesn't start it's completely different issue.
Don't mess with BIOS again until you repair or even reinstall Windows.
It's not the first case here that shows Windows crashing after BIOS update- although this shouldn't happen. In all cases reinstalling Windows resolved the issue.

oh man :/ i will lost then my all settings, and apps, i will have to reinstall them all ower T.T how could i install another windows version NEAR this one, by not effecting old one, if there is just one hard drive, and its no splitted.

i still can accses command prompt by windows dvd. so is there would be some way trought this, make another partition of first ones free space? then i would install windows on it, downgrade bios, and the my old windows would boot up? so i wont lost my setting? cause im designer and my windows haz lots lots custom setting, i just dont wana lose so lot time.
Or maybe i could use some dvd that is for boot on LIVE OS, and flash bios from some kind of live windows dvd?

I FIXED!!!!!!!! i went to bios and changet AHCI to IDE mode, and windows booted xD good that i tryed this and dint reinstalled windows :/ anyway, why they cnaget to AHCI? whats that and how its better?

ok, i actually find out why AHCI is better and it actually boosts SATA hard drive performance, and i also found how to enable win 7 to use AHCD even if system is already installed on IDE mode. I will do new tread and complete tutorial how to swich to AHCI without reinstalling whole system and why AHCI is better to you.

Awesome. Glad to see your problem got solved without any harm. Why don't you make a backup now just in case? And maybe even partition your drive?

meh... idk.. i dont really have a storage for backups, but i have all the same data on my old laptop. but not system settings.
anyway, now my system is runing in AHCI mode and windows boots like 5 seconds faster as before. i really noticed the performance improvement =)

AHCI mode allows hard drive to accept more then one command at same time, and the head on spinning disc moves way diffrend as in IDE mode.

last update, i made it tutorial how to solve this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ace...s-already-installed-ide-mode.html#post7081409
