I am preparing to upgrade to vista 64 with my 6920. however, i did notice that acer did not have 64bit drivers for the modem. i went looking and found a lenovo site that uses a similar modem to my laptop and it has both 32 and 64bit versions for modem. so what i did to see if their driver package for said modem were compatible with my laptop was to install their 32bit package onto my laptop that is still running 32 bit windows. and it did work! so according to my hypothesis, if the 32bit drivers of the modem that lenovo made worked with my laptop, then the 64bit version of the package might possibly work as well with the 64bit version of windows. here are links if you are adventurous enough to see if it would actually work and since i dont have my 2nd 2gb stick of ram yet so i could complete my vista32 to vista64 transition, i was hoping if anyone would be interested in verifying my hypothesis! cheers![]()
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67842.html for vista 32 (this is the one i tested to work with vista 32 for 6920 (and possibly 8920 since both use the same modem driver package)

nope, it wont work. I got Bluescreen twice. It will install but with the yellow failure triangle on it.
Damn Acer, why cant they just get the drivers out there both for XP and Vista ? -
grrrrrrr........... it seems now i cant move to vista 64 since modem is crucial to what i do.

Try out VersionTracker and Driver Detective....!!
I was in a similar position when I upgraded my Dell D630 to Vista x64....didn't have the drivers, but VersionTracker helped me since some guys had uploaded modified infs that actually worked, because logically speaking, you might not be the only guys upgrading your 6920s to vista x64 and there maybe drivers somewhere out there..uploaded by others who have already done the upgrades..
possibly working 64bit drivers for 6920 and 8920 modem
