I have an Acer Extensa 4420-5910.
I removed Vista and loaded XP.
Everything is working perfectly and the machine is very fast, but I only get about 1 1/2 hours of battery life.
The only thing I have not been able to find is a power mgmt for this machine with XP. The download sites show ePower Mgmt for Vista...not XP.

has anyone here solved the power mgmt issue with XP?

    Thanks!

I have removed all acer software and I am using vista. That said I installed a newer ati driver + ccc + atitool and underclocked my video card from 400mhz to 100mhz. I'm also running rmclock from rightmark and underclocking and undervolting my cpu when idle. I am currently running 800mhz @ .8volts and 1600mhz @ 1.0volts instead of the default 1600mhz 1.25 volts. This setup buys me over 3 hours of portable continuous power for an office setup.

Now if your going to be running high end software, that will eat up battery power so no playing warcraft.
