i have the travelmate 8204 and i got free this cardphone. the problem is that i cannot charge it. i put it in the slot my windows recognise it as a device cardphone but no charging seems to be going on. I mean no light no nothing. i checked the cardbus and its on on the power manager. anyone can help me with what is going wrong?

p.s. when i installed the acer vcm software there is a folder in program files > phone charger with an application in it. i try to run it but nothing happens.

Dude, I have exactly the same problem. My notebook is an Acer Aspire 5680, whitch also comes with a VoIP phone, but it just doesn't charge. I put it into my PCMCIA slot, windows recognizes the card, installs the driver and then... nothing happens. Absolutelly nothing. No lights, no charging. I've never got to turn it on. About the phone charger application, nothing happens when I try running it either.
If you have any success with this, please post here whatever you've done to make this thing work.
    Thanks

You must make sure that both Cardbus and Bluetooth are ENABLED in your ePowerManagement settings. This helped to get mine working. It is a very tricky thing to set up.

Its part of the pre-installed Acer software that came with your laptop. :D

Hope you have not deleted or reformatted everything.

ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/notebook/ is where you can find the utilities you need to reinstall.
