I have a spare aspire 6920g chassis sitting around with all the goodies (video card, cpu, ram, and lcd) that I need a mobo for. I was thinking about pulling the one out of my current system, and replacing it with a 6935g mobo.

The only thing I would need right off that I can see would be ddr3 ram provided the mobo will fit in my chassis, then later I want to upgrade my intel t9500 to a core2quad.

Also, does anyone here know if the 6935g will support 8gigs of ram? I can't seem to get a straight answer on that from anyone.

Yes, I know I could buy a new laptop... but this is fun! xD:thumbsup:

As I remember, RAM amount is controlled via chipset, not the BIOS. On the service manual there is written, that this laptop can handle up to 4Gb of RAM using two 2Gb bricks.

yes, but I have found people using 6gb with 1x4gb and 1x 2gb. The pm45 chipset supports 8gb, so I think it is a bios limitation.

And as it is shown in wikipedia, PM965/GM965 supports 8Gb RAM. I think, that PM975/GM975 will support it too. That is the same situation as with PM45. On datasheet it is shown that this chipset supports only 4Gb, but many of users, as do I, have 8Gb of RAM. So, you should give it a try, if you have money for that. :D
