Is it possible to use the x9100 processor in the 8920? How about the q9100? If not, why not?

    Thanks!

Nope not possible. Incompatible with the BIOS and chipset. X9000 is the max.

No, you've got it wrong. All the 1066MHz FB CPUs you've been hearing about (T9800, T9550, T9400) are all Montevina Penryns, and are not compatible with Santa Rosa. The maximum T series CPU you can use is the old T9500, otherwise the fastest would still be the X9000.

Thanks. The only difference I can see between the T9500 and the x9000 is that the former runs it's cores at 2.6 GHz and the latter at 2.8 GHz. Is that correct? No real reason to upgrade as far as I can tell if I already have the T9500.

There are no quad cores that work with this system, correct?

No Quad Cores. And don't bother upgrading your T9500. X9000 is mainly for multiplier overclocking, which is not possible on the 8920.
