I picked up my 1681 in Buffalo Sat. (was there for the weekend) and I am so stoked right now. If you remember this was the LT that I bought off ebay and received it in great condition. Everything was accounted for as if I bought the unit new (it basically is since the person only had it for 2 weeks but had to sell).
I tried it out in my hotel room and it worked like a charm so I am so happy right now that I got it for a great price.
My unit doesn't have bluetooth but does have FIR (fast infared) and it did come with the card reader that I was so concerned about it not having.
I need to go over some of the settings to make it applicable to me so I'll be playing with it for the next few days and can't wait to get it running the way I want it too. I'll report on the things that I'll be playing with on this LT. [][

I'm assuming you're back in Canada. Did you have to pay any duties or anything when re-entering Canada? If you didn't what did you do to avoid paying (this could help other Canadians)? If so, how much did it cost?
Well, congratulations on your new unit, I'm sure you're gonna be happy with it, as is eveyone else who bought Acer notebooks based on the "Folio" designs.

Hi Venombite, no I didn't pay any duties or taxes on the LT. I was in the US (Buffalo) the whole weekend (from Friday to today late) so I was allowed an exemption amount that was greater than the cost of the LT that I bought (with the lower invoice amount given to me by the seller) [

I was wondering this though shortly after getting back home, would a new Acer LT ship with a cd copy of Windows XP? With my laptop I got 4 cd's (1 Norton AV, 1 Acer recovery cd, and 2 other Acer cd's that mention XP home on it but there wasn't an actual Windows XP cd. I emailed the seller to see if maybe I was suppose to get that cd and she forgot to ship so I'll wait for a reply but those of you that bought your unit new what cd's did it come with? Thanks.

I don't think the unit "must" have an XP CD. The Recovery CD pretty much does the job to restore the system back to factory specs. It normally contains an image of the OS Load that was originally on the HDD. This way, you just pop in the CD and go through the steps to restore the image, usually takes 50%-75% less time than it does to manually install XP from an XP CD.
It's possible the Restore CD is an XP CD and the other 2 CD's that has XP Home on it is the Apps & Drivers CD's. HP does a similar thing, 1 CD is the XP CD, and the others are App & Drivers. With these 2-3 CD's, it would reload the system back to factory specs.

thanks V for the answer. I'm gonna chow down on some dinner real fast right now and later get the internet and email going here at home with my LT, sitting on the living room couch and watching some TV too. I'll let you guys know later how it goes. Thanks.

mind if i borrow ur topic?
(inform me if u do n i will edit this post)
i hv a question here but i dont want to start a thread since it's just a small matter.
i hv a 1681wlci with ATI Mob Radeon 9700.
however, recently i upgraded to Omega drivers(not the latest beta drive, a version older) n found out i could overclock the card. without even changing the values, i get 3dmark2001se scores of about twice as much as using acer's stock drivers.
the thing is, i m currently using the laptop in a hot country n wouldn't want to stress the graphic card since it would produce excess heat.
wat is the recommended clock speed settings? or what is the stock clock speed that came with the laptop/acer stock driver....?
received my 1681
