Hi guys i could do with a bit of advice please

I need to replace the keyboard on my 8930G i have a new one for it and a set of instructions to do so they seem to be telling me to "push down on the lock and release the catches" with arrows pointing to the tabs located above the F1 F5 F9 etc keys. There seems to be no give to "push down" on I have had the 2 end ones free by brute force which made me and the laptop wince. There i stopped as attacking my beloved with a screwdriver is not my idea of fun despite being an engineer myself. Does anyone know of an easier/safer way of doing this?
