i own an acer travelmate 8002 and i wanna replace the tray-loading drive with a slot-loading drive, perhaps the panasonic uj-825. is it possible to do that, and will the slot-laod drive leave any extra space when its in the media bay and dust could get in there? thanks alot everyone.

You must be careful when purchasing the slot load drives, the Panasonic do tend to be a bit longer/deeper than the stock drives. Usually the depth is 126mm, but the Panasonic is 129mm. This may cause the drive to protrude out a bit.

There's usually some kind of fiber or something to keep the dust out, just like in a car CD player.
