hey guys i have replace a screen on an acer aspire 5630 with a one i had around the place and it works fine but there is a big black line about 3 inches wide on the right hand side of the screen can anyone tell me if there is a problem with the screen or if it could possibly be something else like a driver or something. That side of the screen is completely black but the full desktop is there if anyone could shed some light i would be very greatful thanks

I don't think thats a driver or any software related issue.

Sounds like its almost definitely the LCD, heres how you can check... Get an external monitor with VGA or DVI or an HDTV hooked up.
If the line is gone, you'll need a new LCD (or some crazy DIY skills) to fix it. Although there is a slight chance just the cable is broken instead.

    P. S. I have this laptop and the motherboard seems to have failed. The LCD (& cable) is definitely in decent condition, so instead of paying almost 100$ you can PM me if you want to work something out. ;)

On the other hand if you still see lines on an external screen, I think its your graphics and motherboard. Some good and bad news here, they are available for under 50$ with a newer SATA hard drive interface and some other variances - you'd be getting an upgrade but you'd also have to buy a new hard drive.
