My sister and her boyfriend have went traveling and have kindly gave me their laptop :)

I would like to keep some pictures and music files if possible, and take everything else back to the original settings. Can/how do I do this?

    Hi,

you can connect an external HDD to the computer to get the important data backed up.

As for getting back to factory installation, you need to press Alt+F10 after powering on. Normally, you should then be guided through the restore process.
