    I have narrowed my search to two acer laptops the configuration given below

    1) Aspire 1644WLMI
    Intel Centrino - 2.0 Ghz CPU, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB Hard disk, 56 Kbps DVD DUAL 15.4" display, 64 MB shared, 10/100 NIC, BT, Card Reader, Acer Arcade, Acer eManager, Win XP Home -US$1,166.00

    2) Aspire 5502WXMI
    Intel Centrino - 1.7 Ghz CPU, 512 MB RAM, 80 GB Hard disk, 56 Kbps modem, DVD DUAL 14.1" display, 64 MB Dedicated (ATI Mobility Radeon X700), 10/100 Gigabit NIC, S Video, IEEE 1394,SPDIF, Acer Arcade, Acer eManager, BT, 5-in-1 Card Reader,Grid Vista, 2.38 Kgs, Win XP Home -US$1,138.00

    The 1644 seems like a great deal except for the VGA shared .Just wanted to know how much difference does a shared memory makes .I use the notebook mainly for programs dreamweaver , adobe and stuff and to watch dvd’s too , what do u guys suggest

    You only need the better card if you are doing something where you need it like gaming or cad.

    I vote for 5502 for its portability, the card reader convenience and the gaming with the X700 when required. 2 GHz cpus are still overpriced and when the yonahs come, the 2 GHz cpu prices will drop.
