hi,
my 15 month old 3020 has a very stiff lid, ie the hinges are quite tight.
a problem has now developed whereby i have stress cracks on the silver part of the lid, these will only get worse.
my question: is it possible to loosen the tightness of the hinge on the left hand side?
there is a little rubber bung near the hinge, should i pull this out and what will be behind it? an adjuster screw perhaps?
any ideas anyone, is this an acer problem?![]()

The rubber thing near the hinge is just a dummy- under it there is a screw. There are total 8 of them- you would have to unscrew them all and take the black front of the screen off. I don't know if you can loosen the hinges. I have more or less the same problem. It happens after 12-20months. So I guess if the hinges can't be loosened you would have to buy a new lid with the hinges- that's what I'm gonna do.
Part number is 60.A46V1.005. It costs some 17

wow, thanx downloads, great info.
what is the next part no. down: 60.A46V1.007, with the description:
ACER COVER LCD 15" WITH HING/LOGO
ACHTUNG! Dies ist eine alte Artikelnummer!
Die neue Artikelnummer lautet: 60.A74V1.005
then referring back to the 005 part no. it says 'logo', my lid has the logo so i'm wondering if 007 is the part i need?
also any idea what the 15,4" measurement actually refers to as my lid is 10.5" x 14", i wouldn't want to get the wrong part! -
I'm sure this is the right part- I've even found some photos. It fits ASPIRE 3020/5020 and some others, including some pretty new TravelMates.
