I say remove the stickers first thing, then remove extra software you don't need.

Run down the battery completely and charge up to full and repeat a couple times to train the battery into knowing it's full capacity. Then maybe once a month or every 2 months do this once and your battery will live a happy life.

I also organize all my folders for my programs so that my start window doesn't end up taking up the whole length of the screen.

Thanks for the Tip. I will be sure to do that.
What I do is look for the driver CD or get copies for the drivers. Complete format of the hardrives, partition a small piece for the OS, another partition for a backup OS, a big chunk for Installing, and the rest for data storage. I tend to tinker alot with the OS, so it's wise to have redundants when I need to do some actual work.

Burn off a copy of the recovery discs if you don't get the discs.

I fresh format with a clean xp, install necessary drivers then my usual programs - ewido, free version of avg, kerio firewall, peer gaurdian, middle_man/aim and maxthon. Then codecs and plugins such as flash and java.

Install Slackware Linux. No Windoze. Clean every spec of dust that lands on it for at least the first 3 days and then just do a good cleaning every week after that.
