    Hello all,

I've found an Acer TravelMate 4001LCi-XPH at an amazing price, but haven't been able to find any reviews/thoughts on this model, and I'm reluctant to drop that much cash on an unknown entity. I know it's a fairly new model, so there probably won't be a lot of info out there, but I was wondering if, by chance, anyone had any experience with it.

If not, in general, does anyone have any thoughts about the build quality/user friendliness of the new Acer Folio design? What about the FineTouch 5 degree curved keyboard? I know this is a feature of other Acer models. I'm concerned specifically with how solid the keyboard feels, and how hard it is to get used to the slightly curved shape.

Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.

    Hi there,
I've been looking at the same model--well almost the same, 15.4 WXGA for $1700 CAD. Where did you find your deal?

My Acer Travelmate 800 has the curved keyboard, and I really like it. I'm sure it's pretty much the same thing that is on the new Folio design. The curved keyboard really helps when you are typing with the laptop on your lap!

    Hi crabsticks,

ComputerLink Systems in Markham, ON, currently has the 4000WLCi-XPH for about $1540 (they didn't have it in stock when I bought, or I would have gotten that model instead). The only problem is that they don't ship out, so you'll need to either live around (or know people who live around) Markham in order to take advantage of that price. Their stock is also pretty volatile.

I haven't actually *seen* the laptop yet, since it's waiting for me at a friend's house in Markham until I can get down there next week, but from what I've been told, it's a really nice unit that runs well.

    Hope that helps!
