i'm using amd's central brain identifier and it tells me that my ac5002 with the turion 64bit 3000+ is at a current 800mhz speed. it's peak should be 1.6ghz.

the problem i have is, i'm running vmware workstation. i'm plugged into AC power. i have 1gig ram, using 32mb for video. but it's still slower then my home pc with is like an athlon xp 2500+
    what gives?

i wanted to run 2 virtual machines each with 256mb ram. as is, i'm having a hard time doing one.

any way i can up the cpu speed?

Set your power setting to "Always On" or "Home Office/Desktop". It will disable cool n quiet and set your processor to its max speed.

Yea, do that from the control panel. Now remember, that is going to make the processor run at its maximum speed, so there will be more heat. But if you are running a VM then definatley do it.

And, it's probably running slow due to your 512MB RAM, get 1024MB in there to really speed up things.

I noticed a big difference going from 512MB to 1024MB.

Well, the computer is designed to run....but, I would say that you might want to push the warranty to a total of two or three years if you are going to be running it at full speed, 24/7 like that. I don't have mine on 24/7, but it still gets hot enough that I turn it off every once in a while.

I would really suggest getting a notebook cooling pad for your computer - it might increase it's life.
