decided to try out undervolting to solve what i suspect are cpu overheating issues which causes the gpu to downclock when playing games... i know others have done the same.. question is, how far below the default voltage have you guys gone? the default for the 12x multiplier is 1.1365v and right now im testing 1.0125v... i think ive undervolted a considerable amount already but have only gotten 1 or 2 degrees off my max cpu temp... also, do i have to undervolt all the multipliers? or is it ok to have my 12x multiplier at a lower voltage than the other multipliers? i dont really have the time to find the right voltage for all the multipliers

are you sure its your cpu overheating? What are your cpu temps while playing? It could be your 9500 GS it will down clock for no reason check what your gpu and cpu temps are and post them here. If none are overheating its your gpu downclocking try changing drivers.

yup pretty sure its the cpu... we came to that conclusion a couple months ago... my fps would drop after a few minutes of playing world in conflict even at the lowest settings... from about 100 fps, id get a screen tearing and a flashing screen.. when it would come back id have horrible frame rates... problem doesnt happen though with, say, call of duty 4 on higher settings because i believe world in conflict is more cpu-intensive than cod4 multiplayer...
i already tried going from driver to driver before and it would happen even with powermizer off... cqstelush and tehsuigi know about the overheating issues im talking about -
That's right Halo360Fan - not sure if it's just the T5750/T5550 being fed too much voltage, or the thermal paste used by Acer just sucking, but if the CPU can't feed data to the GPU to be rendered fast enough, your performance will stink.
The GPU downclocks as well in this situation, but that's largely b/c it doesn't have as many frames to render, so it's idle. The GPU downclock is a symptom, not the disease.
I was able to take my top multiplier 11x down a full 0.2V from stock while being stable - from 1.225V to 1.025V. Start by running ORTHOS (stress test), and then dropping your top multiplier by one VID every 10 minutes. When you feel that you've hit your limit (or if you actually do BSOD), bump the voltage up slightly and leave it there.
To test the intermediate VIDs, just use RMClock's Auto-adjust Intermediate States VID function, and use a profile to force a single multiplier to be tested - 20 minutes should be enough. -
yup i got a bsod at 1.00 vso im at 1.0125 v, which is just .125v bellow the default 1.1375... unfortunately i dont know if it really helped... according to hwmonitor, ive only bumped around 3-4 degrees of my cpu temperature... oh well.. i think our beloved notebooks really have overheating issues in the design

Hm. That's unfortunate - it took more than that off mine, but then again it seemed my CPU got fed a TON more voltage than yours.
Just to be safe, try some games and see if it overheats again. -
Specs in sig. CPU has always ran cool, though HWMonitor has inaccurate temps. GPU/HD and other temps are fine though. I also use Powermizer Switch to prevent GPU downclocking on A/C. I'm using the stock 175.61 drivers for GPU.
edit: 1 more post til 1337 -
Temps are not high, it's just the security that is too secure.

I'm having the same problems..
after about 15 mins of gaming my FPS drops to 10fps..
Acer Tech support did nothing but waste my time on this issue..
I just reformatted and the problem still persists...
I also had crackling sound while playing wow. (had cause i don't play wow anymore but I'm sure would still exist if i did)

I dont get thrrotling at all anymore since my 4650 upgrade...actually I totally forgot about this issue...
In DoW II especially I would notice after about 1-10 mins that the screen would go black and then come back at 1/2 the FPS...only restart would help...
