Hello,
I recently bought a Acer aspire 5100-5830 laptop, which is similar to 5102, with a TL50 CPU, 2G ddr2 533 Ram, 120G Hitache 4200rpm 8M cache PATA hard drive and ATI X1100 IGP. I have a Hitache 80G 7200rpm IDE 2.5' HD at hand and I am thinking of changing the original HD to the 7200rpm one. Now I have a few questions before I do the change, it will be really appreciated if you can answer some of them.
1. Is that easy to change the HD on this laptop?
2. If I changed the HD, will it void the warranty?
3. Can I "copy" the original C disk to my new HD, or do I need to do a fresh new windows installation? Will the recovery DVD still works on my new HD? If I am doing a fresh windows installation, can I use the same windows key, can I use NTFS format and is that easy to find all the drivers for the laptop?
4. Do you think is it worth the hassle to upgrade the HD?
Thanks very much in advance.
