    If it's a laptop, no.

If it's a desktop, yes. Just buy and install a GPU.

Yep. Read this thread for more info on why most laptop video cards can not be upgraded

Also, by pci express slot, I believe you mean a Expresscard slot.

    They can be used for:

Well the PCI-E slot is still there in IGP notebooks, it's just permanently disabled since the card is soldered onto the motherboard. So no, you can't upgrade.

most notebooks these days DO have upgradeable gpus.

but independently sold gpus are hard to find and there is not much to upgrade to as there are much fewer notebook gpu models.

http://www.mxm-upgrade.com has a large list of notebooks with upgradeable gpus.. and disassembly guides for most.

    1. That's far from "most". That's actually a very small minority.
    2. The only Acer I can think of that does use MXM is the 5920.
    3. No laptop with only integrated graphics has MXM.

Read the link in Kdawg's post for more info, or hit the stickies below.

Before buying a new mobo, I would first try to upgrade you video card drivers(The manufacturer should have updated drivers). Also check the cables, and LCD.

Replacing a mobo will be time consuming and very difficult if you havent done it before. Also the act of replacing the mobo could cause more problems.
