Hi, I recently have been thinking about upgrading my video card and screen in my 6920g. I have been looking at the nVidia GeForce 9600M GT. I already have the modded bios installed, and should have no problems with the upgrade.

I have been wondering if anyone has any information on the 1920x1080 lcd screen for the aspire 6920g and if I would need to switch out the cable when upgrading. This is the one I have been looking at: Here. Also, if I do need to change the cable, does anyone know the part number on the cable that I would need to get?

Any thoughts on if the upgrade to the nvidia 9600m GT is worth it? I already have my 9500m gs overclocked past the stock clocks of the 9600m gt. The only thing would be the upgrade to DDR3 video ram which would be nice, but can I overclock this card as heavily as I have my 9500m? At the moment I can barely play crysis 2 on this machine on low settings and would like to be able to play it a little more smoothly, but here is a video of crysis 2 on my current setup.

Anyway, I can get this card for about $110 on ebay so I might go for it anyway.

I know you guys are gonna say just go buy a new system, but this is just a project... I already have a sager notebook. (see below)

640/1325 is easily reachable with a 9600M GT. Especially on a rev.C1 9600M GT - those have been known to overclock up to 780 (core).

Do you think it would be good to go with the nvidia card or should I switch to the HD 4570 with the 512mb ddr3? it is a bit more expensive, but if it runs cooler it would be worth it, as I can't live without some kind of overclock. :D

Edit: also, any word on a successful lcd upgrade for the 6920g? I really want to get a 1920x1080 display.

Full HD screens work on 6920G- that I can tell you for sure.
There are two LCD cables- 50.APQ0N.013 (LCD/CAMERA CABLE 16" WXGA) and 50.APQ0N.012 (LCD/CAMERA CABLE 16" WUXGA/WXGA)- the latter is needed for Full HD.

Thanks for that information, I will look into getting a new cable, or atleast open my machine up and check to see what cable I have.

A little off topic here a couple of years ago my lcd cable went out and I couldn't figure out what was wrong, but my computer would die every time I opened the lcd a little too far. I finally figured out what it was and was able to replace it, but the old cable was melted all together where it flexes

ahh, the fun of having a computer that I use every day all day.
Edit* I currently have a 6920 in pieces in a box due to a bad motherboard, so I might have the 50.APQ0N.012 cable on that one.... that would sure make things alot easier then having to buy a new cable.
