    I have got this error message on my laptop userinit.exe after a failed install of Windows XP Media Center, PC just goes to desktop with no icons and thats it, I can't even get into safe mode anyone know how to remedy this will an XP disc repair do it? If I need to remove my hard drive on my Acer Extensa 2302LC can someone tell me how to remove as I can't get into the bottom so looks like you get in under the keyboard have searched can't find any info!

    I suggest if you got nothing on hard disk just go thought the xp install again make sure you delete partions

    if you did,nt the frist time

    did you do xp repair by chance? if was clean install that shound,nt happened

    Sorry perhaps I didn't make my post clear I would like to get back to my original copy of XP Home, but just comes up with the userinit.exe error message with just my wallpaper or start page no icons taskbar etc. Can get into task manager but can't seem to be able to do much!

    open taskmgr

    go run cmd if you can

    do sfc /scannow at command prompt it if will let you ?

    No I can't get it to cmd! Do you think I will have to remove the hard drive I would have done it but don't know how to remove it! Any one know how to remove the hdd on the Extensa 2302LC?
