I am a 69 year old undergraduate in my second year at University. I am unable to carry a full size laptop because of mobility problems, so I saved money from my pension to buy the Acer Switch 10. Since doing so, I have had nothing but trouble. First, it wouldn't Charge, so Staples replaced it. It was fine for a few months. Then it wouldn't charge up. Last night, I put it on charge and nothing. So I went on to an Acer forum and they suggested replacing the charger. Bought one from Amazon. Delivered today at extra cost. Orange light for a couple of hours then after 4 hours blue light. 3 hours later, still blue light and won't switch on. Totally unusable. Lost my assignments, photos etc. Thanks Acer.

If it's still under warranty send it to Acer - they might need to replace the motherboard (if it's the cause of the problem), it can also be a trivial issue like the connector that connects the physical buttons to the motherboard (although that seems less likely in your case).
If it's the motherboard failure, your data will be lost as it's an eMMC drive which is a part of the main board.
Note that if you have a Switch 10 with 500GB HDD in the keyboard part and you stored data on this HDD, you can actually get it back - it's a normal 2.5" HDD that can be easily extracted and connected to any computer to copy the data.
That said any laptop can fail and while Acer can be blamed for that, it was responsibility to have a backup of your data. -
The Acer is still under warranty, but unfortunately, I have lost the receipt. Further to this, I bought it in my local Staples which has now been taken over by a new company and they are not interested.
I had a local computer technician look at it yesterday. It is the motherboard which is faulty and as the cost of a new one plus labour would make it uneconomical to repair, it is of no use to me so I shall be returning it to Acer with my compliments.
Thank you for your comments. -
Don't return it to Acer. Sell it on eBay. There are useful parts there - the screen, the keyboard dock, the battery - all of those are worth something. At least you will be able to get some money back this way.

I suppose that would recoup some of the cost because I have had very little use out of it. Thank you.

You can check online for a close by Staples, and if there isn't one in driving distance, try calling their customer service for help. It may take some patience and a few tries, but don't give up, ask for a manager that can help you if a first line person isn't helpful enough.

Thank you. The Staples I bought it from is directly across the road from my university. They know perfectly well I bought it from there. Some of the students in my year group have part time jobs there and they knew I bought it from there.
I will contact them again today. -

If you paid using a bank or credit card then make a copy of the relevant part of the statement as it will show the date and amount of your purchase. Also, if you used a credit card then you may be able to claim against the card company if you cannot get a response from the retailer.
