Avast all the way. Fantastic AND free for home use - Never once had a problem in 4 years. My past experienced included AVG which always had problems with updating or modules crashing randomly, and Norton is way too bloated for my liking.

While many may disagree with me, I use AVG free edition. No problems at all! (And no more crappy McAfee!)

i use AVG 8.0 FREE Edition for ANTI-VIRUS

but it looks like A-squared has a virus scanner that also functions as anti-spyware too... i guess i'll have to give it a try soon!

i have used the A-squared products for spyware protection and removal for a few years now.... but since getting my DSL installed,, my ISP (at&t) gives me ONE free installation of thier internet security suite... i've not checked to see what product it is based on,,,, but i know it works great... it even prevented me from downloading a ZIP file that contained an un-infected MBR (i guess since many virus files infect the MBR the software didn't want me downloading that MBR file)... i've had maybe 2 other false positive reports,,, but i'd much rather have false positive reports than have a software that lets too much slip thru...

so i have to give props to the AT&T Internet Security Suite.
