My acer 5920 has vista and a trial of office 2007.
i have not installed this and do not intend buying it. can you pls tell me if any other office suite is compatible. eg office 2000/2003 or 'open office' (free)

search the net STUDENT VERSION of office 2007 is only $59 with 2 pc licsense....
just need an EMAIL account at a .edu site
look around you may find it cheaper now -
Open Office should work just fine under Vista (I believe) not sure about prior versions of office simply because they won't get updated to work with Vista (where OpenOffice will get updated).
If you aren't a student/don't want Microsoft Office, Open Office is a fairly good alternative for most normal day to day tasks. -
thanks - i am neither a student nor in usa. so i think open office is my best bet.

I take it that it is completely compatable with microsoft office docs?

open office and micro$oft have now agreed that both there file systems are compatible....and about time
so you can now open all micro$oft office, word doc's in open office and back the other way.....ye-haw party
