I tried to search for this problem but couldn't come up with any results. I have an Acer TravelMate 4100 and when I adjust the volume or any other settings that would usually show up on the screen (i.e. brightness, etc.), the control bar doesn't show up anymore. Any quick fixes? Thanks!

Judging by the smiley, you are either being sarcastic or this is a common problem? :p

Common problem... if you uninstall Launch Manager you don't see the volume control or brightness thing...

Not really that either is needed...

This is a "common" problem, Acer's Launch manager is what allows you to see the volume on the screen or any other settings for that matter. A few new acer users don't realize this and stop the Launch manager program from starting with windows. If you stop this from running at windows startup then the symptoms you described will happen. Just put it back to start with windows (called Lmanager in msconfig) and everything will be as you wanted.
