thought i would post my experience with underclocking.

i have an acer 4062LMi and i downloaded RH Clock and Mobile Meter as per the underclocking instructions. i decided to uninstall acer epower management after this. a bad mistake. for some reason the fan does not now work automatically.
the central bottom of the computer where the wifi antenna and memory are located heat up and there is no way to dissapate this heat. the touchpad gets very hot and the computer froze.

i reinstalled epower management but the fan does not seem not come on automatically. anyone here know why? i read in another thread that epower needs .Net, is this true since i do not recall having .Net on initially?

    cheers

    -----------
update: the fan does work if the temp of the cpu reaches 55C (according to Mobile Meter)what was happening last time was that the underclocking was working and since the cpu temp did not reach 55C the fan was not allowed to cool the heat built up from the hard disk, ram and wifi antenna.

only solution is that if you want to underclock your system keep the fan on all the time.

update 2: i would advise acer owners (especially of travelmate 4060s) to let ePower Management manage their chip speed. I found that if you use the lowest speed in epower it is lower than either RMClock or NHC can achieve (i.e. 600Mhz).

.Net Framework is pretty important for ePower Management I think. My .Net was stuffing up a while back and that also disabled my ePower Management.
