    Hi guys!

I am a bit sad owner of the dead Acer Aspire 5672 WLMi (Core Duo 1,6GHz, 100GB hard drive, 1GB RAM, and ATI RADEON X1400 512MB HyperMemory (so it's not real 512...). What had happened to my notebook is that due to overheating (yes, yes we all know this) and evil fan the graphics got simply burnt. Now all I need is to obtain new (or just another) RADEON X1400. I have a problem because I live in Poland and as 5672 is rather an US model, I wasn't able to find the graphics in my country (I searched for over a month). So here's the question - if and how can I safely obtain it in the US (or somewhere else)? Or maybe you would advice me to change the motherboard (if it wouldn't be very expensive) and buy some better-configured version (getting rid of HyperMemory ;)?

I wait eagerly for your advices 'cause now I'm in a point when I dunno what to do next. I do know I want my Acer back though! ;)

You're probably better off buying a new computer.

I believe the x1400 is soldered onto the motherboard, so you would have to replace the motherboard to get it working again. Unless you still have it under warranty, it would be wiser to buy a new computer rather than purchase a replacement motherboard.

Yes, like Lithus said, the GPU is soldered to the mobo. In my opinon, not worth the money(if not under warranty) to buy a replacement mobo. Sell the acer for parts and buy a new laptop.

Yup, it seems like it is in fact soldered in my model, and, what is more, I am off the warranty. Breakdown happened 13 months after buying and I had a one year warranty only (but inside the US, so longer duration wouldn't give me anything).

The problem is that I don't know if I can get a reasonable price for selling my notebook for parts... Provided it's an US model and I live in Europe, it might not be a demand for its parts and therefore sum of money I get from selling it out would be only little.

So if I would want (if there is a sense of course) look for motherboard inside the US, where should I head? Is it possible to buy it through the net, or only I am left with asking my US friends to ask in some services for used motherboard from 5672s in which eg. the screen broke down?

Asus and AMD (both of them) released a solution where you can upgrade your graphic card using Express Card! So its a external graphic card solution for your notebook and works!
