Hi, I have decided to order an acer 4402 with another 512 ram. On newegg.com there are different types of 512 MB ram that i dont know which are compatible with 4402. Some are 184 pin, some 200 pin. some are ddr 333, some ddr 400 or ddr 266. some pc 2700, some pc2100. so ... ?

It uses 200pin DDR SODIMM's. You can use either 266, 333 or 400MHz RAM sticks. Faster the RAM better the performance. It ships stock with DDR333 memory.

I bought the Gigaram PC2700 1GB SoDIMM from NewEgg for my 4402. Works great so far. You could buy PC3200, though I think as noted the included ram is PC2700, so the chipset should slow all the RAM down to that. If you plan to go to 2GB at some point, perhaps PC3200 would be worth a few extra $$$.

As Miner already mentioned, I can confirm the TM4402 ships with DDR333 RAM...
I bought the K-Byte 1GB PC2700/PC3200 (DDR333/DDR400) 200-pin SODIMM from a BestBuy store. I've been using for ~5 months now without any problems. It runs at DDR333 though because of the stock RAM. -
OK, so i would order a DDR333 200 pin one, but what about 512 or 1 GB. Please tell me where and in which type of applications, 1.5 GB can be more advantageous over 1 GB.

I opted for 1GB. The 4202 has 2 DIMM slots and one is occupied by a 512MB DIMM - if you buy a 512MB now and decide you need more RAM later you'll have to recycle something that's there already. The way I saw it, 1.5GB was probably going to be enough for quite some time and I'll probably never feel the itch for the max 2GB. And the extra $30 or so wasn't going to kill me. Impacts on battery life and heat are minimal.
If you're doing just general web surfing and office applictions, another 512MB should be fine. In fact, you may not even notice any improvement at all. Adding memory does not "increase" the performance of any computer - but it can offer that illusion by removing a bottleneck if current RAM is insufficient. If you're manipulating large files such as image or video editing, or playing games with complex backgrounds and geometries, you'll likely see a speed increase in those applications.
Vista is another consideration. We can already guess the new M$ OS won't be using less RAM than XP
which type of ram is compatible with 4402
