Hi gang![]()
As some of you will know, recently I have been busy giving my 6920G a full make over, changing CPU, GPU, HDD & OS (to the things in my sig), and I've gotta say It all went swimmingly.... well apart from cloning the damn HDD, acronis didnt work for me at all but maxiblast worked like a treat. Other than that everything else worked perfetcly, I can also see the system bios after instaling the gpu (nvidia 9600m GT) which is supposedly a known bug, so thats a big score
So basicly I would like to say a big thanks to everyone that helped me along the way, I couldnt have done it without out you. and also too anybody thats been thinking about upgrading I would definatly go for it, if you can find what you're looking to upgrade to cheap enough that is! I mean if an idiot like me can do it pritty much isue free then it should be a breeze for most of you
and @ Tehsuigi you were right about windows 7 mate, that was the first thing I did before I upgraded any of the other stuff, and I can say that it already made a major difference to my speed and general responsiveness, much more than I would have thought anyways, so thanks for that man if if wasn't for you I would still have been using crappy old vista![]()
btw sorry for any typos, was in a hurry

Well done DaRush. Always good to see people upgrading and enjoying their machines.
-
Attaboy, DaRush!
Care to fling some benchmarks our way? 3DMark06, for example? -
Thanks guys, sure Tehsuigi I will crack on with that as soon as finish work in the morning matey...........I actualy tryed runing a bench on it before the upgrades, but im sure it throttled on me and was taking ages so I aborted it, in hindsight I should have used throttle stop but even then anything that pushed my old cpu to %100 caused major slow sown, so it would have probably been the same end result to be honest. fingers crossed for a better experiance this time though
-
ok I'm back with my 3Dmark06 result, and well it actualy completed so that must be good? 'eh lol
my score was 5380, not to sure if this good or not tbh so somebody will have to help me out, and btw I ran the test with avg and the like still runing in the background but dont know if that make's much of a diference or not? -
5380 for a stock-clocked 9600M GT sounds about right.
Actually, since you mentioned your 9600M GT doesn't have the invisible BIOS screen bug that others have mentioned, could you please post a screenshot of GPU-Z from your machine, along with the system BIOS version you're running (mainboard tab in CPU-Z should have that info).
You've got one slick machine, DaRush. -
doh, that beats my 9600GS (which i still cant overclock)
good work DaRush, now i am interested also where, how much?
just thinking, i assume the T9500 would also bump the score up? -
ok guys I'm back with the screenies, hopefully I've got all I needed
Cpu
Mainboard
Gpu
And finaly, I took a picture of my actual system Bios just to prove that I can see it
if I am missing anything just let me know.
its good to see that I am actualy getting a good/decent score out of this machine now, but I do have one problem, as you will see looking at my voltage that I have not yet lowered it, but that is simply because I cant, well using throttle stop anyways as it keeps blue screening on me, will have to try and see If I can do with RMclock if that doesn't work does anybody else have any ideas because I cant think of what else there is to try, I mean I'm quite confident that I applyed the correct amount of arctic silver 5 so that should'nt be an issue I dont think.
Edit: dont worry about that last bit, Just sorted it (with throttlestop) and stable at 1.000v, so god knows what the problem was lol -
Just make sure that your system is stable at the lower voltage - run a few rounds of ORTHOS or another CPU stress test.
Also, please thumbnail your images and put links to the full-size pics in your post. Makes it easier to read.
Interesting to note that your T9500 is running slightly above spec in that screenshot - 2.7 GHz instead of the stock 2.6. What were you doing?
@gazza: Probably. CPU speed does have an impact on 3DMark06 scores. -
also DaRush, why are the clocks so slow on your 9600M GT?
shouldn't they be about 650,1550,900, even at standard?
like this one? 9600M GT off ebay -
maybe it's the powermizer clocks.

DaRush used CPU-Z's GPU tab, which does indeed show PowerMizer clocks if you're using them.
whoooo upgrading completed
