has anyone here installed windows 2000 pro on their ferrari 3200? i don't like winxp so i installed win2k on my 3200. everything works fine except for one problem. i think it's the 4 in 1 media reader. the reader works fine but i get this system log message in the event viewer that reads:
RSM cannot manage library PhysicalDrive1. It encountered an unspecified error. This can be caused by a number of problems including, but not limited to, database corruption, failure communicating with the library, or insufficient system resources.
Event ID:17
I checked the microsoft event id database, but the event id:17 seems to be a generic error for different sorts of issues. it did not, however, have anything in regards to the problem i have. i'm thinking that it may be a driver issue, but the 4 in 1 drivers i installed, though meant for winxp, work fine in win2k. does anyone know of a win2k driver for the 4 in 1? maybe that may fix my problem. is it another problem that i don't know about? any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

venombite,
i use my 3200 for cad and design work. i've found win2k to be less of bloat ware compared to winxp. it's more streamlined and seems to do better for cad and design compared to winxp. i don't plan on upgrading my os until microsoft releases longhorn.
i live and work in the silicon valley (san jose, ca. usa), and have talked to many industry professionals about this issue (win2k vs. winxp) they all seem to agree that win2k was like moving from win95 to win nt and that winxp is like win me, not worth the upgrade. but i digress...let's not turn this into a win2k vs winxp debate.
i'm just wondering if anyone has had any success with the problem that i have. any takers? -
The 3200 is not designed for Win2K (driver wise). This could be the biggest issue causing your problem. What specifically do you not like with XP? Installing XP Pro on a system performs much better than Win2K (don't know how XP Home performs). If it's just the look, you can change the look of XP to look exactly like Win2K, I do that on my system. Just right click on the Start Bar & select properties, then click on the Start Menu Tab. You can now select the Classic Start Menu. Goto Control Panel and chnage the colors under Display Properties and it'll look exactly like Win2K, but give you the performance enhancements you get from XP Pro.
