I have a first generation netbook and I was wondering can I install 7 home premium and turn off most of the visual features?

It should work although you'll have to find a version of Launch Manager that works with Windows 7 and your netbook. The rest of the drivers are pretty easy to get hold off so it shouldn't be an issue.

Windows 7 worked great without turning any visuals off in my original Acer Aspire ONE. It seemed just as fast or faster than it was when it had XP. Memory was 1 or 1.5 gig, forget which. I did not do the tougher memory upgrade.

memory upgrades are nothing to me...hmmm, May have to max out memory and load on 7. on a new drive, something with more capacity. i think 2 gig is max. I also need a new battery, as the original has the latching mechanizim broken on it. can you get upgraded batteries for them as well?
