It will quicken normal wear on your hasrd drive etc. but that type of wear is based on how many hours your lappy is in use. remember if your laptop is sitting doing nothing it isn't productive...

Depends.....If you are using it as a desktop replacement most of the time(sounds like you are like me), buy or build a decent Notebook Cooler. It will make the reliability much, much better.

Cooler lappie = far better reliability.

If, on the other hand, you are using it 15 Hours a day on the road....then your workhorse will probably probably die much quicker. (And the battery too).

Make no mistake, lappies are designed to be portable comps. But 15 hours a day is a bit harsh for a lappie to be working reliably without any form of external cooling.

    Just a thought.

    Cheers,
    Theo

Well, I have a tendency of keeping my laptop on for several days in a row (especially for large downloads over nights and working on 3d art during the day).
I bought myself a Zalman NC200B cooler to help reduce it's temps.
It's doing a nice job I must admit and will likely extend the lifespan of my laptop in the long run.

Though I must admit that expecting to use the same laptop beyond the time-frame of 2 and a half (possibly 3 years) is a bit pushing it with an extensive use.
