I have been having occasional problems with my aspire 2025 in which it shows a blue error screen which disappears too fast for me to read and then crashes to the loadup screen.

It then proceeds with the following list of messages:

    Checking boot CD-ROM
No bootable CD in ATAPI CD-ROM

then it goes on about a Broadcom NetXtreme Ethernet Boot Agent
    and then:
PXE-E61: Media Test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM

these messages keep on repeating until i shut it down manually.
Most of the time the problem 'fixes' itself after a few restarts, but the problem is still extremely frustrating considering i take good care of my laptop.

I have also been having problems with my touchpad and i suspect that these problems are related. Once during one of the crashes i just mentioned, neither the keyboard or trackpad would respond and after i had managed to get the system up and running again (through several manual restarts) it reported something like an 'i/o error'.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix this?

This could be a problem with your systemboard or HDD. During bootup, if the system can't locate a HDD, it'll check for a CD, if none in the drive, it'll then go to the next on the boot list. From the looks of it, yours sequence is set for HDD, CD, LAN or CD, HDD, LAN. Since the KB & Touchpad is locking up after the crash, it's leading me to believe it's the systemboard (but HDD still possible). I'd recommend sending the unit in for service as this may be the only way to resolve the problem. I'd also recommend backing up your data before your data's gone for good (if it's the drive).

I have a slightly similar issue. For 8 months I had three times blue screen error (a software bug fixed now) and once, after the computer rebooted the HDD was not recognized.
A simple manual shutdown-restart made everything working flawlessly.
