well, i may take the plunge to a notebook... but have a few questions...

    1. should i still keep the desktop as to limit the use, thus extend the life of the notebook?

i was looking at the Acer 5672 with 1gig ram 100gig HD with the ATI 1400GFX for $1399 at canada computers

now, i have heard to get the xp pro with notebooks especially the DUO as home doesnt recognize the technology,,, thus kind of a waste??

will these things really only last two yrs??? that would suck royally to say the least..

my main useage will be photoshop CS2 for some onsite photo touchups and printing...will the gfx card make a big diff??

my goal is minimium 1 gig of 667mhz RAM and 100 gig HDD, and XP pro if possible... hooking up a external monitor for clients to view what i see...any notebooks enabled for more than 1 monitor that would show 2 different things?

since i know NOTHING, is the 5672 the best bang for buck or is there better notebooks (durability/speed wise) with the duo chip set out there??

also, where is the cheapest place to get one, like i say the $1399 seems to be the cheapest i saw, and $1449 for the 2 gig version....

I'd love to spend $1100, but appears to be impossible, $1400 would be the limit

finally, the shop guy i talked to today said if i can hold off to August, i should as there is going to be some big changes coming up that
A: get a better/faster laptop at this time, OR

B: get the one im looking at cheaper.......which i like

thanks all, and hello from canada, ontario

Did he say what would be happening in August that would make it cheaper? Im interested in knowing if it would be worthwhile to wait that long to buy a TM8204. THats when I start school and actually need the laptop. For now, Im very near buying it because ... I just really want it. Anyone know if its worth waiting? Will it be significantly cheaper?
