does anyone else have a stuttering problem in multiplayer? I turned off turboboost (as i heard that might fix it) but it still happens just as regularly. Also, is there any way too quicken up the load times? They seem ridiculously long.

What do you mean by stuttering? Is it like rubberbending/lag all over the place? If so then it is your network problem, try close down some program, and if you have Torrent running, then shut it off, because it will eat your bandwidth thus making the game unplayable. Sometime stuttering can also cause by the video card either it is OC too high or it is the setting is too high, and can also cause by the CPU's throttling due to the temperature. So which one are you?

The stuttering happens whenever (i.e. 45 fps, 30 fps) and the fps goes down to like 5 for a split second but it is very noticeable. I don't think its a network problem, got 20mbps internet and only join low ping servers. My card is oced to 750 core 1000mem but never goes over 75 degrees and my cpu is under 80 degrees always now too. Im playing multiplayer at 768p with mostly medium settings (textures on high, SSAO enabled) and average 40-45 fps. any suggestions?

Has anybody compared the i5-2430 and the i7-2630 on BF3? Is there too much of a difference in the FPS?

Any reason why BF3 is only running around 10fps on medium ? Yes I have whitelisted it in NCP and i've also turned off Turbo Boost. Any ideas?

Hi, maybe you can help me..

I received my M14x less just a week ago and have already had many problems with the nvidia drivers. Finally after a full reinstall, and then an alienware rep installed the 295.18 version driver everything works..except for Battlefield 3.

I've ran gpu-z while playing and it looks like it is running my integrated graphics with bf3. It will load up..kind've.. then continue to go very very slow until I just quit.
The 295.18 driver fixed my problems with all my games except for bf3. I've selected bf3 to run with my nvidia card through the control panel, selected to run as admin.. everything that's been suggested so far. I noticed that you said you "modded inf file", what is this exactly? Should I do this for my system?
I've reinstalled Bf3 once since installing the driver, but if there are any changes I should make I can reinstall again if necessary.

Sorry for the long post, but my laptop is barely a week old and I've contacted Alienware about 6 or 7 times due to issues with my system since I got it. Now they refuse to help me (for free) because they say it's a 'software' issue and not a hardware one.

If you read this all, and can make any suggestions to me I would really appreciate it. Thanks :)

Hi, not sure if it will help that much but driver 295.18 has known issues with Battlefield 3. It tested it out as I like using the latest drivers usually, however I found much improved performance from the latest beta 290.53 - NVIDIA DRIVERS 290.53 BETA this was actually released after 295.18 but removed some of its features such as the fixed FXAA.

You shouldn't need to modify the inf on any of the recent drivers....

    Hope this helps a little

So I should try the 290.53? I'll give it a shot! Hopefully I can get this all resolved. When I had the 269.37 Bf3 would run but have frequent crashes now it won't run at all. And like I had said 295.18 fixed ALL my problems except for bf3! Lol very frustrating indeed.

Thank you for the response, I'll go ahead and try that and get back to you!

Yeah I would go for it. 290.53 is optimized for BF3 so nvidia say. Goodluck let us know how you fair.

So I've run into some trouble..
How do you go about installing the drivers? I mean I uninstalled the current ones and everything, but when I go to install the new one (290.53) from the nvidia site, it tells me that my graphics hardware is not compatible. Is there something else I can do?
I went back to the 269.37 version, and one Alienware rep told me that I did not need to uninstall this driver when installing the new beta ones.

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks again.

    Update:

So I've had no luck with the newer drivers. The one that has worked best for me so far is the 269.37 version. Bf3 will actually start up, but does crash pretty frequently.
With the newer drivers every time I try and install I get the error message that my graphics hardware is not compatible.

I recently got this error message on a crash in bf3 "DirectX function "DxRenderer:map" failed with E_OUTOFMEMORY: Ran out of memory."

Not sure what the fix is but am researching it now..

Thanks, I'll try the 295 driver again and see how that works out. I know that I have the A08 bios version so maybe this is my only option. If not I'll just stick with the 269 until I find a better solution..
Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if it works out

    Small update from me,

295.18 has turned out to be hit and miss.. I've reverted to 269.37 and crashing in game play.

I would like to try 290.53 as this is the one for BF3 only i can't mod the inf correctly..

I thought I had to add the 124d hardware id to the nvam file to make it recognise the card. I've done this only i failed.

Does any one know where there is info on doing this?

Make sure you are Using the Nvidia GPU , Make sure you are hooked up and on High Performance under the battery settings. Make sure you have the latest patch (290.53). Make sure you are not on battery of course, Make sure you enable the settings under the list of appropriate settings for best performance on the BF3 guide here in the forums. Tell me how it goes

Im getting major frame drops now... for some reason. I upgraded to 8gb ram yesterday. Current Specs 8 gb DDR3, i5 process lowest end one, overclocked to 700/1400/1000 and from time to time i get drops all the way down to 10-20 for a few seconds than it pops back to around 40-60 which is normal. all the graphics are on low. i am plugged in, high performance, using the dedicated one. nvidia 555. im tired of people ssuggesting me to plug it in or to use the dedicated one when i ALREADY AM. Thanks in advance
Also forgot to add that the sound tears up and i cant hear most of the sounds in the game when this happens.
EDIT 2: I found that my system idle process STAYS up and uses 85-95 of the cpu while my bf3 is up. bf3 only uses 10 cpu. Maybe that might be a problem? anybody know a fix if that IS the problem?

Yea, most likely CPU - BF3 likes 4 cores. I'm averaging 40-50 fps with my specs.

Textures set to ultra, other settings medium. AA Deferred off, AA Post medium, Occlusion off, AF 8x, Motion Blur off, and Vsync off @ 1366x768.

By "Updating your processor" do you mean "upgrade"? Because as far as I know, you can update the CPU. I also have some few frame drop now and then after that last patch, but I found that sometime exit the game then restart the laptop will help fix it, and some other time just minimize the game for a few second then go back to the game will also help.

Hey, does anyone else have a problem with the game running at low framerates? I've been through about 3 different drivers trying to fix this and the game will not go over 40fps. I tried putting everything to low, bringing resolution down and everything. The only time it goes over 40fps is when I run it in 320 x 240 resolution.

yes it says false because you set it to false (zero).

ok, type render.drawfps 1 and hit enter first it will show you fps.

then type what I told you before and hit enter. Your FPS will shoot up a considerable amount. World detail might be a bit less but not really noticeable and more than worth the extra fps imho.

It should say false. FPS should bump up with it set to 0.
