The thing is, I have the same issue with it on or off. I'll try what you said again though.
EDIT: some more info
I started monitoring my gpu usage/ temps and cpu usage while playing.
GPU never goes above 75 degrees C and stays at 99% usage when I'm playing
CPU never goes above 35% usage.
EDIT 2:
OK I turned off vsync and tried the console setting you told me and I'm getting around 40-45 fps with everything on low and resolution at 1600 x 900.
The thing is, I don't see why I have to do this just to get a decent framerate when other people with my specs can run this at 1080p in medium and get the same fps.
-
-
Something doesn't seem right. You should be able to get 30-40fps at 1080p with mix of med/low (turn shadows low, bloom off, HBAO off).

My m14x won't even start BF3 at all now be it Single player or multiplayer. The game launcher loads up and then just as it starts loading it says "Battlefield 3 stopped working"
Any idea of what i can do to fix this? The SP was working before as i've played a few hours of it but i can't seem to play it at all now. I've whitelisted the game in the NCP so it shouldn't be anything to do with that though occasionally something to do with the intel display crashes so i'm not sure if it is something to do with that?
I rensintalled the game this morning and i'm still having the same problems.
M14x 128GB Crucial M4 SSD, 1.5GB GT555, 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz, i7 2670QM (turbo boost turned off) -
Have you tried deleting your savegames?
Had that problem before but I solved the problem by deleting the saves at My Documents folder, might be corrupted saves. -
I'll try that now. i'll report back in two minutes
Edit: Nope, it's still not even loading up. Fantastic. -
Have you disabled Cloud on Origin? If not the corrupted saves will still be stored in your HD.
Down----> What video driver are you using? Is it series 285 or over? -
Nope didn't have that enabled to begin with. I've not changed any settings from when i last played it. Reinstalled various drivers, (realtek audio and intel display driver) reinstalled the whole game, checked the install for repair, checked to make sure no files had 'TM' in the name.
Really don't know what else to do now -
New patch that came out today still hasn't solved any of the issues. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated as i really want to be able to start playing BF3 on my laptop. Knowing it could run it was one of the reasons i actually bought this laptop.

Yeah, I've checked that as well, unfortunately.
Thanks for the help so far guys -
you guys seen this here: Possible FPS Fix - Forums - Battlelog / Battlefield 3 ?
quote: "Theory is that basic directx 9 stuff is being emulated by directx 10/11 if you are missing the dx9 files.
And apparently if youre running a newer system, you wont have these files on your pc."
trying that out now (loading dx9 files from here: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/confirmation.aspx?id=8109 )
edit: worked for me, slight improve. feels a bit more fluid now. partly 10-20fps more WOW
edit2: improve is not there always, but overall better. how it states, only depends on dx9 stuff -

New driver that Nvida released seemed to have fixed the issue
-
These seem best on my PC, no doubt they are best for m14x although my GPU just died so cannot comment. :/
-
My m14x had GPU overheating issue got a new heatsink, fan and got repasting done from dell during this time i was getting 40-50 fps in game but during it fps wont go higher than 10.Now i tried running the game at lowest setting still same sad 10 fps plz help dont know what to do.Runiing the 285.38 drivers
-
You are probably running on the HD3000 Intel graphics card. By whitelisting the game, force the game to use the dedicated GT555m GPU. (you wont probably need to do this after the driver update but its here anway) -
Thornox the new drivers worked wonders
I got i7-2720m and 3gb GT555M i was thinking of connecting it to my Samsumg Led 22" will it give decent fps to play BF3 ?? -
-
Well connect your m14x and Samsung LED 22'' and let us know..... duhhhh -
fullhd runs fine with a little OC and AA off
-
Does anyone else got 96° of temps in the cores of the cpu and 93° of the gpu playing BFB3?
Turbo Boost disable
Not oc on cpu
OC gpu: core clock 765, shader clock 1530 and memory cloc 1080
Driver: 285.62, P08 (from dell.com)
I send you my best regards. -
origin is having a sale on battlefield 3 and I was wondering how my system would run battlefield 3 with an i5? max settings possible? thanks in advance
-
max settings not possible. perhaps medium-high settings will give you a decent fps of 30s-40s
-
I try to play Battlefield 3, in Ultra, High And Medium Settings but always the fps stay in 7 ~ 10.
My Config is:
M14x:
i7-2670(2,2GHz)
4gb 1600
3gb gt555m -

just bought bf3 and and started up the campaign. i put the settings on low and play at 1366 x 768 resolution which i found to be the smoothest settings i can play. even on 1400 x 900 it seems fine but im not getting enough frames that I would like it to be at.
what are some settings that i should set my graphics to to optimize my frame rate according to my system? -
I just got the same computer, and I called tech support due to crashing and freezing while playing games.
He told me that when you have the computer on battery power it uses an integrated card that can't handle that kind of performance ... so you get slowness, freezing and crashing.
If you plug it in, then it uses the 555 card with 3gb of ram.
So I plugged it in, and it seems to be working a lot better.
hope this helps. -
When i Play Bf3, without charger plug in, my temp stay in 75 ~ 80, and when i plug in the charger my temp goes to 85 ~ 80
turbo boost off.
that is normally? -
Updated to 296.10 just recently, playing BF3 right now, noticed after each death the screen flashes on and off. Also noticed it takes much longer to alt + tab out of the game to see web pages and what not. Anyone else experiencing this?

What's the point of playing one of the most demanding games on battery anyways when you'd get around 45 minutes of gaming or less
Personally, I only play older games on battery that utilize the Intel GPU. This way, I can squeeze 3 hours+ of gaming out of it. My favourite is Heroes of Might & Magic III ...such a masterpiece for its time
Here's a response to a previous inquiry:
-
is it really smart to flash the bios back to a previous version though? Don't they update the bios with important things?
-
The problem is that I don't think you can even find BIOS AO1 and 2 unless someone can link you it. If playing current demanding games on battery is very important to you, you should cross-compare the current BIOS and the older BIOS (1 & 2) to see what you would be losing from the rollback.
Personally, I don't think it's worth it because you'd be rolling back, what ...7 revisions? -
Ultra settings

Ive been playing bf3 since day one, ive turned down the settings to low..

Been playing Battlefield on and off for the past month now, and the one thing that keeps bugging me is the loading screens, they are really slow to load the levels, there is a slight jump in time when its the same level being played but each new level takes an unhealthy amount of time. I know its longer then others as when I finally connect the game has already commenced. any help?
-
5400rpm = Takes an eternity to load
7200rpm = Average load speeds (what we have)
SSD = Super fast loading
A friend of mine has an SSD and he always loads nearly instantly into games (like SWTOR) while I'm still at the loading bar waiting. Makes me so jealous -
I assumed it was down to memory.. as these guys are only running low ram 2/3 gb. I sapose i could be hdd speed i didnt think about it tbh..
One of our guys is installing an ssd today, ill let you know if its any better for him.
Ive also got a 120gb ocz agility ssd to install and try out when i get a chance.. -
-
4GB of RAM should be the bare minimum these days on any gaming computer -
I'm runng 8gb, I also have 4gb readyboost if that makes any difference.. -
I just want to report that the latest BF3 PC Game Client update that DICE announce in the Battlelog which one of the addition is "AlienFX Support" and it is indeed support and fully work with BF3.
BF3 PC Client R7 is due on Fri Apr 27th -
Yeeeeaaahhh
Very nice effects -
Now that I actually know what it is, I kind of like it.
The first load-up of the game had the colours changing every 0.5 seconds, but the second time I loaded the game, it was acceptable.
The red flashing when you're HP is low and when you get resurrected (before hitting spacebar) is a great feature. -
Though I wish that either DICE or Dell/AW have a data sheet on what colour it will display or if possible able to config those colour too, but overall the AlienFX supported is great addition. -
I wonder why this thread isn't stickied anymore? -
-
cool - I'll have to give this a try later tonight then.
...As much as I love this game I still suck badly at it and get my butt kicked most of the time. lol
