I'm not that good myself :p Only class I can get top 5 on is the medic since I'm usually one of the few that rezes and heals. As for the sniper, I wish I was better ...I get owned so easily (perhaps it's lack of unlocked - only level 6 and everyone has the x12 zoom while I have the x7 I think).

I don't know why, but even after installing the 296.10 drivers bf3 goes really slow for me. When I first start playing it's okay, but I get awful drops in framerate throughout the game, even at the lowest settings. bf3 is whitelisted with my graphics card.

This is why I roll back to the 295.73 after I install the 296.10. So I suggest you download and install the 295.73 instead because that version I think it is both stable enough to handle high OC and not drop games's framerate as well, and it is not only happen to BF3.

So you recommend the 295.73? I'm not positive if I've tried that driver yet or not, it's in my downloads folder but I don't remember using it so I'll give it a go.

As I play BF3 which I recently bought it just keeps on crashing, sometimes in 15 mins, 40 mins and even 5 mins. I really don't know why it does that, by the way I don't really download drivers for my M14x I just usually go and play.

    I have an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20 GHz, GT555M, 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz.

    My BF3 settings are:

    1080p
    90 field of view
    Custom
    Ultra
    Ultra
    Medium
    Medium
    Ultra
    Ultra
    Off
    Off
    Off
    1x
    HBAO

My laptop config is in my sig and I get average 40fps with the default 296.10 drivers.

It seems other drivers may produce faster results but I'm quite scared to change them haha. It may not be the fastest but it runs well so I'm nervous about changing them.

I get about 40FPS with the latest NVIDIA driver on my m14x on a 64 player Metro, just tested it out a few days ago with my specs. 40 FPS is descent with no overlcocking, since with overclocking i should get 50 or so. So I bought a 23" external monitor, mechanical keyboard, and razer mouse to enhance the gameplay. I have a main PC gaming rig, (i7 2600k + sli gtx570) so I only really needed a backup.

I have the same specs as u (Signature but with 8gigs RAM) and I can run BF3 on high with 45fps. Did u whitelist the game in Nvidia Control Panel? I think u was playing the game on the HD 4000.

It doesnt sound like you have whitelist the .exe of the game but dont worry there is a link in my sig which link to a post I made for those who need help of How to whitelist a game on an Optimus Machine. Good Luck with your whitelist. Now for BF3, I'd suggest you whitelist Origin and your browser too, as BF3 need Origin, and need Battlelog which it is needed to run the game, so whitelist all those should ensure the chances.

How many fps you get on high? For me, mine got overclock to 911MHz and got 45fps on high. Oh and also when you run the game, you could minimize the game and see the GPU is running or not?

I would suggest you tweak the setting, as the pre-configure setting such as High and Auto is not recommend, As for me I manage to get a stable 40 ~ 55 frame with Med - High (while I turn the motion blur & AA off), as for BF3 is not build to run on laptop.

    Hey Guys,
You can see my rig config in my signature. I recently started playing BF3 and i have some doubts.
    1. For my config, What are the max settings i should go for?
    2. Currently i am playing at all medium settings and i get about 30-35 fps(using in-game fps counter). Are these ok or is something wrong??
    3. Temps are going at these settings max at 81C for CPU and about 62C for GPU. My surroundings are at about 35C.My laptop is raised so airflow problem should not be there. So how is that?

    reply ASAP.
    Thanx :)

That sounds just about right. Not bad temps either. The 650 isn't a top end card, but pretty powerful for the size of laptops it's used in. 30-35 fps on BF3 on a 14" laptop is pretty amazing.

That's pretty good temperatures for a 35 degrees Celsius environment, mine tops out at 84 for the CPU and 65 for the GPU in a 25 C environment.

I don't understand why are so many people getting these high temperatures , I monitor my CPU ingame and never get past 75C(didn't do any thermal repaste, and have Turbo Boost OFF), I just put my win7 case under the laptop and get much lower temperatures.By the way, why are you getting so low FPS , I with my GT555m get like your fps on ULTRA(28-38 FPS).I just posted this to let you know there might be a problem with your laptop. Have a nice day ;)

I have an m14x R1 with a GT 555M, and I refuse to believe you get those frames per second running on all ultra settings. Unless you have a massive overclock ans are running it at less than native resolution (1600x900) that is simply not possible.

OP: I get better frames than that with a GT 555M myself, however. I use a mix of medium and ultra settings at 1600x900 resolution and run about 35 frames per second. Yours should be able to outperform mine quite easily.

    Hey Guys,

I'm getting decent FPS (40-50) with a slight overclock and mostly high settings (ultra textures and effects but medium shadows and little to no anti-aliasing).

However, every once in a while I am getting what seem to be lag spikes. Maybe a few times a minute. However, my ping isn't moving much.
I have checked my temperatures and the GPU is around 65 celcius. I have read that the 650M has a voltage drop at 65, could that the cause of these low fps spikes?
If so, how can I get around that?

Edit: Also, I'm getting texture flickering when I am in sniper-zoom mode. I've read that this might be a common problem, but do any of you guys get it too?

I am impressed that the 650m can drive around 40fps on the 900p screen. I play bf3 the most of any PC game - would you rate your experience on the m14x as tolerable or even more so for on the go bf3?

    Hi Guys,

Been playing BF3 offline, but have recently purchased the DLC's and have been trying to play online, problem is that my system seems to freeze and crash after about 5 to 10 mins of play.

    I have a M14X R1, i7 2860 2.5GHz, 8 Gig RAM, its not overclocked or anything, and I have the Nvidia 306.23 drivers loaded.

I have good performance offline with BF3, just seems to be online, tried Auto, Low settings, and trying different screen resolutions, but same freeze / crash happens, times are inconsistent, somtimes 10mins of play, otherimes, 1 to 2 mins.

    Thanks in advance

    Ricey

How do I turn off TurboBoost? Sorry if I missed it. I seem to be getting lag spikes and hoping this will help!

I'm currently building and ordering parts for my new build, which will use a GTX 670 GPU.

Laptops don't cut it with me anymore, lol.

EDIT: I have the R1 if that helps.

Press F2 when you start your laptop or during the first Alien Head you see when you first start your laptop but you'll have to be quick for that, then after you press F2, there would be a flash then the BIOS will display, the Turbo Boost will be in the Advance tab in the end of the first part, it would say something like - CPU Turbo Boost [ENABLE], press Enter to change it to Disable.

Also, does anyone have the frames with 306.23 nvidia patch?

Which driver version currently is the best (gives best performance, without crashes) for M14x R1 running Win7 64bit?
