for those interested I can verify my R2 with a 3820QM can run the 2133MHz (2x4GB) Kingston kit @ 2133. I can also verify the Corsair 1866 (2x8GB) runs @ 1866 when set to 1866 in the bios. I just bought the 16GB 1866 kit a few weeks ago and shortly after I found the 2133 kit from Kingston and couldn't resist.

to recap, both sets are capable of running @ rated speeds in my R2 with the i7 3820QM.

currently the highest performing kit of notebook ddr3 is the Kingston HyperX 2133 8GB. I have a set myself and other than having to set the speed to 2133 in the bios, it has worked fine for me. HOWEVER, I am aware that others here with the same configuration as mine are not able to run them. They get strange screen flickering which to me sounds like the integrated GPU might become unstable on some chips when pushed past the rated 1600. if your not aware, ram is shared by the integrated GPU and runs according to the memory clock. this means its possible to get a significant performance boost from the integrated GPU with faster ram...if your system can hang that is. since 1600 is the rated max its not a defect that it doesnt work on some, rather I got lucky by getting a cpu that could handle it.
next best would be the Corsair or Kingston 1866 which also have mixed results as far as stability. if i recall correctly the Corsair has slightly better timings and is currently the only 1866 that is available in a 16GB (8GBx2) kit. the Kingston seem to have better buyer reviews due to less of the compatibility problems that people knock the corsair 1866 for.

read the last post before yours. Basically 1866 is the fastest that seems to work for most configurations. some can run 2133 with no rhyme or reason to which do and don't as far as I can tell

I would like to buy 8GB of RAM. I'm thinking of buying these:
    G.Skill SODIMM DDR3 8GB (2x4GB) 1600MHz CL9 1.5V
    Kingston, DDR3 SODIMM HyperX Plug n Play 8GB/1600 (2*4GB) 1.5V
    Kingston DDR3 SODIMM HyperX XMP 8GB/1600 (2x4GB) Dual CL9 1.5V (gold-plated contacts)
    Kingston DDR3 SODIMM 8GB/1600 (2*4GB) CL9 1.35V (Low Voltage)
    Corsair 2x4GB, 1600MHz, Unbuffered, CL9, SODIMM ( CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9 )
    any suggestions?
