Do we have to control the fans with hwinfo with the 7970m from eurocom?

So what you are pointing out is that we better order the new M17X with the AMD now as they made a mistake on the price and if so are they going to honor that price if they change there mind?

    WOW the difference is huge

I dont know if somebody confirmed it, if not, then you should all know that the x-brackets from 6970 and 6990 will fit on 7970m as they are the same shape and size ( confirmed by eurocom ) :) nice

    Yes i have :D

I only hope that fan controll will be automatic, like in clevo/eurocom 6970m.

Kindly, i would ask any R2 owner to report on this please, as i will get the card later than US residents becouse i'm in UK.

But i would really hate to stuck on max rpm's and use HWinfo.

Audio over HDMI doesn't matter, i use external DAC for HI-FI experience :)

I really doubt new drivers will solve audio over hdmi issue, nothing like this appeared on 6970/6990m in R2 guide thread.

So your 7970m will be shipped on the 9th of march or you have been assured you will get it on this day ?

100watts per card, so i ordered just a single one becouse i would have throttling problems with X-Fire, wich i dont want to have.
Also, X-fire is buggy, especially in notebooks that do not natively support it (video card models )

X-Fire at the later stage maybe, when our forum maniacs get it working properly, anyway, 2x 7970 is an overkill right now :)

Your 6970m is 100W too, right? Any idea what the total power usage of your R2 is under load?

Also, another UK brethren here, who wants the 7970m but is resisting ordering from across the pond. Please keep us informed how things turn out for you regarding delivery times. Appreciated flingin!

G'day, Aussie here!! Absolutely pumped at the early reviews for this card!! Considering getting two and cross firing it with my m18x :D any issues I could run into in terms of buying a card that is clevo branded with a dell laptop? Or just crossfire in general? Can I use the crossfire bridge that comes with the 6990ms for the 7970ms? And do I need to buy x brackets?

Mate, there is nothing to worry about.
When i purchased 6970m, it tooked 7 days to deliver the card to Jersey UK

St. Helier, Jersey 22/11/2011 12:26 Delivered
Canada 15/11/2011 16:13 Order Processed: Ready for UPS

No duties, or taxes. and quick :)

as to the power usage....150-180Watts maybe as mine is undervolted (with 920xm set to 70 TDP)

x-fire cable is probably the same, as the X-brackets are.

I'll probably order an M17x R4 around late June and get it in late July since I go back to school in August. What's the average discount from the website price when you phone in? Will my student discount affect that?

Mate, as flingin said, hardware should be identical to 6990's

I have confirmation that the 7970m works great in a m18x R2. Testing is continuing in the R2, but the numbers i've been told have me floored. I don't know what the difference between the m18x R1 and R2 is though. If there really aren't any differences, the 7970 would look great in your laptop. I also have working beta drivers for the m18x and 7970's...give me a shout if you actually do it and need them

Always call in and get a discount...never order directly on the website. If you go through a reseller, expect at least a 10% discount from website pricing. resellers have a 20% margin so its easy for them to give you a double digit discount

That chart doesnt start from zero :p. So according to AMD, we should expect a performance gain of 30-60% varies depend on specific games.

30-60% is HUGE. And it runs 5-10C Cooler... AWESOME. Means you could easily pull a 10-20% OC and have 50-80% better performance -_- Pretty swag.

So, if I understand correctly... I can't throw this card in my machine because I have a 120hz display? Has anyone tried this card with a 120hz display or is it just speculation that it has the same limitations as the previous generation of GPU?

It's nothing to do with the GPU as all the AMD cards offered in the R3 can do 120Hz. It's to do with the CPU. As soon as an AMD card is put into the system, it routes the signal through the LVDS port which cannot function without the Intel iGPU. As soon as a 120Hz screen is put in, it uses the eDP port which cannot function without a nvidia GPU and the iGPU does not support 120Hz. Paradox.

Yes. My 6990m is on eBay already. My warranty is good until 1/13. I figure if the 7970m dies, they'll replace it with a 6990m and I go through the cycle again.

So you are thinking if you replace your 6990m with a 7970m, if the new 7970 fails, dell will replace it with a 6990m?

I seriously doubt that. If that was the case, all I would have to do is buy a dead 7970m or 6990m and throw it in my system and then call dell to replace it. I dont think they would replace something that wasnt original equiptment

I hope your card never fails and you dont have to risk them denying you anything.

Wonder also if it would matter if you installed say a Clevo card and didnt't get a Dell card...

Also, just wondering about everybody's thoughts regarding whether to wait for the m18x r2 (estimated release date?) or just get the m18x now. What drawbacks would the current m18x offer, asides from processor specs?
