    Hopefully that's a performance preset, so P5384

    The max a 6990M gets is P4200ish with a max OC. This is all with tesselation on, the correct and proper benchmark result. If the 7970M score is correct and on the performance preset I am getting one asap.

    I got a guide all written up for upgrading GPU's in the m17x r3, just gotta find some time later tonight to tear down my system again and get it some good pics so its easy to follow. If there is anything special that must be done to install say a 7970m or perhaps the 680m, Ill put it into the guide as it comes up. ;)

    Can't see how far this card will be able to go. :D

    UPDATE:

    I'm having trouble with the drivers. The 7970m works as i'm typing this from my R3, but currently running using default Microsoft drivers. I'm reaching out to you guys for any tips you can think of.

    The problem: Usually, if driver installation occurs, you install the dell drivers first, then the latest on top. THe m17x R3 dell drivers don't recognize the 7970m. I'm continuing to see what can be done

    The OEM drivers lack the mobility 7970 IDs since it's not officially supported, you must add them manually ;)

    which drivers are you trying to install?
    12.4 previews or 12.3 whql?

    this page has info on how to change the device ID (he does it for a different reason but the concept is there)
    to get the device ID, you can use hwinfo64 or something

    oh and almost forgot, to install modded drivers is a little annoying on x64 systems since they are no longer signed.
    you can use an app called easyBCD to enable unsigned driver install (once installed go advanced -> advanced and tick "allow installation of unsigned..."

    I just scored 5600 3dmark11 with tessellation on completely stock!

    only took 6 hrs of modding drivers lol

    Awesome 5600 jeez, it can run crisis haha . I hope this is ready to order on 24th , 3 daysand then probably 2 weeks to get it built and shipped , hope I get it by like may 7 or so, Diablo 3 is out on May 15 and I could use it for Photoshop also .

    How will 7970 perform in Photoshop ?
