Do you have a md5 or checksum for the file?

Kind of a good habit for sensitive data like this.

    Thanks for sharing

V22 uses less voltage for the same clocks and / or same voltage for maybe 100-200nhz more overclock.

Thanks for sharing the updated A16 with v22 but did you keep all the changes that brother @javers did for the BIOS mod A14+ ? Because it helps a lot as the defaults are crucial & as TheReciever mentioned, better to have the MD5/SHA as well :)

Thanks for the info, I will flash unlocked only when I have a spare machine / upgrade to Pascal Quadro P5xxx / GTX 1070. I have some plans for this machine and since 2020 is coming fast ( Win7+BIOS EOL) & I have to decide on Clevo Prema beast (Win7 + sBIOS) or a desktop :p

EDIT : I see different checksums for the zip file..
EDIT 2 : Updated the #2 post to reflect the new BIOS.

So... Is this thread for the 17 R5 owners as well? The first posts only talk about R1...

If it was possible to undervolt my R5 from BIOS it would be awesome as heck!

    It is.

The name is determined by which the laptop is purchased from. Its also know as the P18E in some places. Blame Dellienware, not the OP.

I do not know if you made a flash with "UH14 Bios Chip" programmer, but you should remove
    CMOS battery.

You have, just in case working bios and ec, ServiceTag you have to type in bios manually.
The most problem you will have with programming EC KB9012
The simplest programmer is SVOD3 or KB9012QF+EDID eeprom USB Programmer+keyboard tester ver3.2 without EDID cable

But you can try to program(CH341A) KB9012 yourself

So you saying this issue is the super IO chip?..you are right it is indeed the first thing to go. But this only happens when the computer does not even turn on(usually). I had the same problem I just got a new mobo and will fix my 7 beeper later.... I should plug. It into my dc power supply and maybe get a gpu socket tester..to find the fault location.... or do it the old fashion way and desolder the jumper point...

Yes, while "playing" in bios modifications I had 7 beeps a few times.
Only flash clear EC and Bios solved my problem, but it does not mean that it will always work.
There may be something else damaged.
It is worth checking if it will help Flash EC and Bios.

In my case the mobo booted up without problem before flashing the eeprom, I've done it due to other reasons... (there were no way to flash the mod bios from windows) and deleted the backup by mistake. I remember the data was almost the same but some bits at the beguining.

I did it for myself to be able to install the nVidia driver without modifying nvdmi.inf

As a bonus, I added the modified vBios GTX980M and GTX970M

As if someone was interested in the unlocked Bios A14 (VAS10A14) for Alienware 18.
Curiosity, this bios also works on 17 R1 (R5), but you do flash at your own risk.

So i keep getting the error:

    Flashing BIOS region backup
"fptw.exe"is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file
"prr.exe"is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file
    Flashing BIOS region backup
"fptw.exe"is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program, or batch file

and the flash wont go through. Am i doing something wrong?

EDIT: Yes i was, was doing the sleep bug improperly. Fixed it

Does the A16 Bios that supports 10 series cards remove support for the 880m? Mine was working fine before i just flashed and now its listing as "microsoft basic display adapter"

You have to flash the a14 via a sleep bug. unless there were a new way of flashing it.

I tried it with my 1060 and it will not let me install the standard nvidia drivers (418.81 tested). I also tried my modded drivers and ran into issues. Not fun! had to flash the vanilla dell bios just to install the modded drivers to get sleep mode to work to flash back..

Yea mb lol. Thought it was a rolling bios mod, i.e. adding support to the new cards without removing support for the old, thought id just flash it now and not have to deal with reflashing when i eventually mod in a 10 series card.

Exactly, there are many versions of cards GTX 10xx

It probably also has the meaning of vBios card and device ID 068B.1028

@Brenden Weaver what device ID has your card in GPU-Z?

Does anyone have the schematics for the msi 1070 mxm 3.0(has the weird notch on the top right corner) ? Board number # MS-1w0v1 rev is 1.2

I have the anetia gtx 1060 gtx 1070 gtx 1080 gtx 960m mxm schematics.. hehehe. But I can get ahold of the MS-1w0v1 which that one can support up to 130watts... I need to find the 12volt Vin pad...

    @remek002 @javers @Ashtrix

Given that you guys seem to be much more knowledgeable about how to tweak the BIOS I figured I would ping you guys. So, with that being said it has come to light that the i7 4980hq has been converted into rPGA so it can be installed into our laptops of our generation.

Its technically crystalwell, and was curious to if you guys think a tweak in the microcode / BIOS would be needed for compatibility given that these CPUs arent exactly supported.

The significance of this CPU could be quite large as its one of the few to have L4 cache which would help immensely with our "aging" platforms. I've seen some videos of the i7 4980hq @ 4.5Ghz beating out the i7 4790k @ 4.8Ghz in a controlled benchmark (not gaming, just a built in bench).

I have one ordered and its on the way but I figured I would ping you guys in advance and get your thoughts.

    Thanks!

    Hello All
Im new here. Had my AW17 since new in 2014.
    I have a
i7-4710mq, gtx 980m (upgraded from original 860m) with 60hertz screen; now using sc mode, I was using optimus (only nvidia in device manager) but i didnt see any real advantage so changed it back.

Im currently running nvidia driver 441.20 with tweaked .inf file

currently stock Alien 16 bios. I did have before the A14+ unlocked bios when I saw Remek002 made an unlocked 16 bios with 980m support, but the link is dead.
Does anyone still happen to have that file they could upload somewhere ....please :)

Im also hunting for a i7-4930mx or 4940mx cpu upgrade to keep this machine going a bit longer.
    Thank you
    Hiro

Personally, go for the 4810MQ or 4900MQ, it can't cool past what either CPU can clock to easily and without a ton of mods.
