I have no problem with the speed of the game. Hovering around 60fps (59.2 avg) even playing big boards with all kinds of transportation.

I do still have the odd screen whenevver i have bright background or outdoors in the snow, its terrible.

Getting crashes since the new patch and it says it's got something to do with DirectX and my 780m (computer got locked up, wouldn't take a screenshot). Tried to reinstall DirectX again through the BF4 folders, didn't help. All drivers up to date.

So bored with all these issues, every patch feels like one step forward, two steps back. One out of visual quality, stability or performance suffers with each patch. I feel like an idiot for getting the premium version of this game, should have waited for a sale.

But when it works it's great, so I keep coming back.

Seems to play pretty good for me, except when an explosion kicks upa lot of smoke or a building comes down, i will see the FPS go from 60 to 12.....it is weird. I kinda wanna try Windows 8 to see if it helps but I don't know if I am that desperate yet.

Did you install the DirectX package within the BF4 files? It helps with this.

Negative, I actually rolled back to 331.82 due to some SC2 problems but it didn't help so I could go back to .93 and see if that helps.

    Command Center -> disable AlienFusion/Power Management -> Windows/High performance -> Run -> services.msc -> AlienFusion -> set to Manual.
Win7 --> ParkControl is FREEWARE to tweak and disable Windows CPU core parking! /disabled.

Edit: no need to backup (ParkControl / PowerCfg.exe.) -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Power.

Is anyone having an issues with this game at the moment? I can't seem to get it to run anymore without having all sort's of screen tear and a black screen come up, I can still hear sound's in the background though? I've tried re-installing it several times, which includes a full uninstall, I've tried the latest graphics driver's over and over. I've used Nvidia experience and other's to turn the graphics all down to low before I boot up the game but still no luck. Can't think of what else to try? I'm running the Alienware 17 i7 4800MQ and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M.

    Thanks!

Backup your documents and personal files and restore your PC using AlienRespawn. This sounds like an issue outside of BF4. The AlienRespawn software will put your system back to factory state allowing you to proceed as if it just arrived at your door. After this is complete, update everything, download BF4 again (don't forget to update PunkBuster) and it should be working.

whats your frame rate? You should be in at around 60fps on high settings and around 25-27fps on ultra @1080p according to notebookcheck.com. Not sure how accurate they really are though.

You most likely need to lower or disable MSAA. You should be able to play with mostly everything on ultra, but with that disabled. It cripples performance for a lot of GPU's, even the 780M.

Otherwise, have you been monitoring temperatures? And have you updated your system BIOS? A06 raised the temperature limitations on GPU's. You can also do this with NVIDIA Inspector or EVGA Precision X. The limitation was 63C, and then caused performance issues.

    No problem, happy to help.

I'm sure there are thousands of people out there that don't have any clue as how to solve this throttling issue, all it takes is a simple download. I'm betting a lot of the returns Alienware experienced were because of this issue causing poor performance. If they had just not tried to fix what wasn't broke, I'd be willing to bet there'd be a lot more Alienware owners out there. I'm sure most of these people would have said, "I'm returning this crap Alienware and going back to MSI." or something similar because of this issue, even though Alienware is the better system.

All these limitations and restrictions... They probably thought it would result in less warranty service requests, which would save them money, but ended up costing them more...

Here is a video of my AW17 with 4700MQ and 770m playing BF4 on ultra. I used Mirillis Action to record and you can see the FPS on the top right. Without recording I get pretty decent and steady FPS around 30-31fps

This was also on an older driver.

Also, I DO NOT play Battlefield on PC as is very evident in this video, with my shocking gameplay lol

I bought a copy of this game for a friend and he thought he'd hate it, but I know he loves it, he just won't admit it. :D

Anyone here play BF4 with the AMD M290x, yet? I'm curious to see how it performs.

i too am curious about this because of the potential for mantle support but the lack of official AMD drivers is making me have second thoughts on grabbing the R9 M290X in place of a 780m.

Can anyone help with me with BF4? I've looked on youtube as to how to set my M770 up to get good FPS, but the only video's I seem to find are showing how the game looks, not how to set it up. I'm getting rubbish FPS and Nvidia experience reckons all my settings should be set to low.

You need to download NVIDIA inspector and adjust the GPU temperature limit in the overclocking tab to 93C maximum. The 770M defaults to 63C. Once it reaches this, it kills performance to lower temps.

This is because you need to flash the vbios for the 770m for this option to become available. Should be one over at techinfernoe.

You don't need to flash the vBIOS to be able to play BF4 with the 770M. You need to adjust the maximum temperature the GPU is allowed to reach through programs like EVGA Precision X, NVIDIA Inspector, etc. Flashing the vBIOS will work, but I don't recommend it if you're only doing so to play a game. Modified vBIOS's are made for overclocking.

Good luck, though. Hope it works out.
