I've been looking at Swiss Gear, but i don't know which one will fit this heavy brick. Also, I don't know if another brand might be better/cheaper.
Any suggestions? Specific links would be helpful.

Booq Bag Slimcase XXL... OR the Slappa Matrix
Links incoming!

The booq isn't a backpack.
-
I heard the Alienware Orion Backpack fits it perfectly
-
i have the orion
Also check out the targus XL -
is it worth the buy moo? does it look cool? is it sturdy?
-
strong yes
cool looking 7-8/10
....worth the buy ...
depends how much your carrying .... i can carry 2 books n power adapter no problems (my m17 power adapter was huge
)
the orion is smaller then it looks but still a great great bag..... i would try to find the odessy first though -
Someone here bought a Swiss Gear backpack that said fit the M17x well but I can't remember which model it was. Maybe the IBEX?
-
I just tried the IBEX at Best Buy, no workie. I could only get it to slide in 1/3 of the way. The thread with the Nikon D80 pics shows the Swiss Gear Pegasus working, but I tried it out and found that the zippers were gonna scratch the hell outta my M17x, so I don't recommend it. I'm a hard core Swiss Gear fan, but for the time being, I dont see a model that fits it
... I'm bagless for the now, but that Velocity Matrix looks pretty good.
As for the Orion, a sales manager at Alienware told me the messenger worked, but not the backpack. I'd get it if someone could verify that it fits... Moo, can you hurry up and get yours? -
ebags that fit. Not much of a selection. Link
-
Yeah that's the thread I where I saw it. Thanks Praze.
The Mobile Edge site gives the interior dimensions of the Orion as 18"x13"x2". You should be able to stretch it out to fit that extra .12".
-
Yeah, the orion backpack should fit it with no problems.
Not sure why the rep said otherwise.... -
If you're looking for a slimmer design you can check Belkin:

Im thinking about checking out their messenger bag but need to find it in person first.

The IBEX will not work. I also tried at Best Buy and it would not fit.
The Targus citygear 17 inch version worked ok. I just didnt like the material that the bag was made out of. However, it fit with room to spare.
Vandit got the Swiss gear Pegasus bag and it worked. Pics below.

I just ordered the Toshiba Bag to see how it goes.
http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-PA1453U-1BG8-17-Inch-18-Inch-Backpack/dp/B001OC1FZC
I had a gift card there so why not try.. Just wish the strap at the top was reinforced like swiss gear.
I love swiss gear and prefer them but wanted a little more room at the top of the bag. As you can see in Vandit's photos there isnt much room at the top of the bag... The zippers rest against it just about. No padding on the upper third of the notebook.. Just worries me some... -
I called Dell, and some woman told me that the bag I wanted would fit the M17x, so I went ahead and bought it.

I'll let you know when both arrive. -
Yeah, that bag should fit fine, but don't expect anything other than the system and power adapter to fit in it....
-
what is the roomiest backpack for this laptop? i want to put my m17x, a good amount of accessories, some games, a netbook, my iphone and its charger...
-
targus XL from newegg.com
ITS HUGE -
And ugly
-
And floppy, gonna last you a couple hours before it breaks, etc...
-
then its not good enough if it breaks very easily... I want a sturdy, yet roomy bag... what is the best for me?
-
It's hard to find a good bag these days. Maybe we should right the major backpack manufacturers with the specification? I'd be interested just to find one that's water proof. We get some really sever thunderstorms here and I'd like to know my multi-thousand dollar laptop is safe and secure.
-
I am currently looking for a backpack for my M17x (Hopefully soon to arrive ;() aswell, and am currently torn between the Slappa Velocity Spyder / Matrix, and the Alienware Orion Backpack.
-
Orion all the way!
Both bags are good, I just prefer mobile edge because they make very good bags (and you can get the orion cheaper with a coupon or ebay, etc) -
Sorry sleey0, what do you mean by coupon? I know what a coupon is obviously, but is there a special one or something?...
-
Well, Dell sells the orion and there was a 25% off coupon for SB accessories. Could have gotten the bag for about $65 brand new.
You just have to keep an eye out for Dell coupons, that's all. -
me, the craft store, my girlfriend and my jansport are making our own backpack
-
well the toshiba one gets delivered tomorrow.. I am hoping that it is a good quality bag.
-
My Belkin Backpack will be here tomorrow, and my M17x just moved into boxing today, so I'm happy. I'll let you all know about the bag, if anyone is interested.
-
i recc slappa all the way. and the backpack they have fit the 1730 perfect so i know it will fir the m17x... and they are built like a tank and have a ton of room!!
-
Just ordered a Alienware Orion pack off eBay, and to be sent from the states. Shipping included end up about $80AUD cheaper then the alienware site.
-
the orion does look nice. they do have 2 styles a messenger and backpack both from mobile edge. only thing is finding more pics of the bag i seem to keep only seeing the normal 2 "stock" photos.. i want more pics ....
-
you want some PIc? Z???
-
please.......
-
ok i guess i have a full review
tonight just fro you
-
I still want this one just the price tag is ridiculous.
-
That is a really nice backpack...
-
that is nice
-
... Damn... That is nice, infact something I would have considered highly. The functionality of it looks brilliant, but the looks themselves aren't that great.
Oh well, already ordered the Orion. ;( -
It comes with a lfetime warranty but don't most these bags come with that kind of warranty?
-
Mobile Edge promo. LINK
Not really earth shattering. -
any one who reads this get the Orion from NEWEGG!!!
-
Personally I'm not a fan of either version of the AW Orion bags...look too kiddy for my tastes. Same with the Slappa backpacks although the Slappa messengers are nice.
-
I feel the same. The Swiss bag Vandit bought would be my cheaper alternative to the booq.
-
Always the Orion for 69.99
-
I'm with you, moo - I think the orion (and the XPS bag) are probably the best fit for the M17x.
PPl might laugh at the XPS bag but it is REALLY good (and I think it is made by mobile edge, but don't quote me on that).
XPS bag here -
Well the Toshiba gaming back pack came in today. The build quality is better than the tragus ones. Still no where near Swiss gear..
I guess this one will do until I can get a good Swiss gear or maybe someday shell out money for that python bag..lol
Shot of the cable management insert that they have.

MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
