I figured the little black sleeve that the m17x came with that has 'ALIENWARE' on it would do the job. Also, none of the sleeves could fit the m17x dimensions.

I don't think the sleeve is intended for any notebook since it's really small. It just changes the look of the front of the backpack and it's one extra pocket.

Take a look at the Python again on the website. The front part of the backpack cost extra.

Yes, the price is prohibitive, but if it can stand up to it's claims, it should be worth it.

p.s. I'm not sure what it means by "weather" resistant though?
Indeed! Keep throwing out hints to all you family...and friends. :D

Reviews are nice, but what's important to me is how it holds up over time. I've bought many backpacks through the years, and my most annoying complaint is when the material begins to show wear after only a few months.

Granted, I can really put a backpack through it's paces, but I don't expect seams to come apart and zippers to break after only a couple of months of use. That's just unacceptable.

Incidentally, one of the best (longest lasting) backpacks I've ever owned was a cheapo from Jansport I bought on sale.

Paying $200+ for a bag is still hard to believe, but I hope, as Krane says, the price is an indication of how well it will hold up over time.

    I'll post a review in 5 years. =D

Agreed... The Booq Bag Boa Slim Case XXL has ater repellant Nylon coating and a thick layer of badding under as well for cold weather situations, insulated... Looks the best so far, I can't seem to find any flaws with this other than that it isn't a backpack...

    http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products/Boa/Boa-slimcase-XXL

Looks like the Alienware Orion has a similiar makeup with the water retardent nylon

This bag, the Belkin Energy Laptop Slim Backpack, just arrived in my mail two days ago. It has a slick outer skin, labeled as rip-stop material, but by the feel of it, it's definitely waterproof. It only weighs 3-4 pounds empty. It's not big and bulky like the orion backpack (only 4" 5/8 think when empty). The large pocket inside has an area specifically for the laptop, supported by a cushioned outer protector to hold the computer against the back of the bag.

The dimensions of that area, from the bottom of the bag to the very top (where the zipper is) is 18" 3/8 x 13" x 2"+, when empty. The depth can easily be stretched beyond 2" without compromising the height (not that it matters, because 18"+ is plenty of room). Inside that same area comes several school-bag-like pockets in which you can fit a mouse, pencils, pens, or even possibly the power adapter (I don't have mine yet to confirm, but it looks wide enough).

In the front of the bag, there is another smaller pocket that is comparable in width and height to the larger pocket, but much shallower in depth. In this pocket, I was able to fit an 8.2" netbook and still have room for SEVERAL books, accessories, etc. There is also a side zipper on the front of that front pocket that also could fit my netbook and several other things.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed with this bag, and extremely pleased that it only cost me 49.99.

    I'd recommend it 100%.

I bought a BOOQ BOA CASE L for my wife last night and got 20%off using the following code: BSC9
    http://www.booqbags.com/All-Products/Boa/Boa-case-L

I'll check if my M17X fits in the bag (once I receive it). There's only a slight difference in size, and by experience, there's allways an inch or two of extra space than advertised.

It probably won't as the XXL was cutting it close... becuase there is a special pocket in it for the laptop, and the XXL is just slightly bigger

Anyway, I'll give you feedback as soon as I receive the BOA CASE L.
And for those interested in the PYTHON bag, use the following code: BSC9, to get 20% off the listed price.

Not only did I verify it, I bought a bag last night and it worked. Got 20%off.
Apparently the code only works with the BOA line of bags
Just tried the following code in the shopping cart with the PYTHON selected:

    PBZONE07 : 10% discount

just fyi y'all, the odyssey aw backpack that's out of production does fit the m17x, but it's an extremely tight fit that requires some work to get the m17x to fit inside.

The Mobile Edge Premium Backpack is a good one that I know fits the M17 fine. I have had M17, power adapter, 2 binders, textbook all in it at once. 2" binders and about a 3" textbook. The "flap" on top of this pack is also foam lined, making it pretty much water proof from the top, good against rain (although I cut the flap off as it just annoyed me). But I am now looking at the Orion, it seemes promising and better padded in the laptop area.

And I can add that the Mobile Edge Premium Backpack is in amazing shape after over 2 years of LOTS of use. If I hadn't cut the flap off, it could pass for new. And I fly with it 4-5 times a year as well as it being my main backpack for school. This brand is TOP quality.

Don't know about the quality but it should fit the M17x.

This site lists it's max laptop dimensions as 13"x16"x2".

I am still looking for the perfect bag...Some are just too expensive, orion is nice..but I don't like displaying alienware. Swiss..I just don't like a little things on it. Belkin has some nice bags, but a bit expensive and hard to find cheaper. targus, eh simple and big. But not very handsome. Caselogic is too artsy, the backpack/duffleback/messenger are a bit too, artsy...Hmm...Need something perfect, and axio is a bit expensive. Also need to find a place I can bring in my laptop and fit it in...Demanding I am.

Just found an amazing backpack at best buy(didnt buy it). The targus citygear 17. If you guys already talked about it. Sorry. But it s a phenomenal bag, its huge. IT can actually fit in the specialized compartment, and 2 other places. Big bag, looks decent. Buying it off ebay soon. Simple, big, carries well. VERY good cushioning.
Btw i went to EMS..they had like no backpacks that it fit into that you could carry around in all day. Also tried a few swiss gear ones at best buy..didn't fit in the lancer 16 and like 2 others. Sucked. Good thing i found the targus.
