I like the Orion messenger bag I have it and the shoulder strap is great and has hard shell on the front and plenty of room for whatever I throw in it

due to the hefty weight I'd be more comfortable with a backpack, I carried mine crosstown in Manhattan this morning and my shoulder was killing me.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but I have this bag, its amazing, and while I havent tried putting my M17x in it yet, I think it would fit and you still would have space for plenty of other things: ThinkGeek :: The Bag of Holding Messenger Bag

I've been using an OGIO street Messenger bag for awhile. No help for you on the OGIO backpack. I have to replace my messenger bag with a backpack. It's killing my shoulder on campus.
I just ordered the Slappa bag off Amazon. Will show pics when it comes if anyone is interested. :)

Just with the Boa Flow XL came in all black with "maybe" a red interior. Just can't part with the $ for it with it not being all black. Oh well, that aside it is a very good bag from all I've read. Congrats Dark11

I'm not positive that .1" will make a difference in that particular bag. I can't even find the specs on my OGIO street because it's a couple of years old and they've changed a bit since then. I was going to see what they listed my bag as and let you know if it would still fit... Alas I can find no numbers.
I think it all depends on the manufacturer and how 'tight' that space is. Some have a little give in the laptop compartment and others have no play at all. Best you can hope for is find one in a store and check it out. Still waitin on my Slappa bag.. est. delivery = Sept 15th

    Hi guys!
I'm currently looking for a bag to carry my beast, but no luck finding one so far.. Been looking in every store here in Denmark.. Looking for recommendations now! :) I don't care if it's a messenger or backpack style.
I don't like the design of the Slappa backpacks(think they're a bit bulky?), and don't know if their messenger bags would fit my accessories.

    Things it needs to fit:
    M17x
    Powersupply
    Mouse - Logitech g700
    Plastic mousepad
    Headphones that is NOT foldable
    Zalman NC1000 cooler

Really hope you can help me out guys :) I need to take this machine with me, asap! :D

*EDIT* Any one with this bag, that can confirm, that it will hold my needed accessories?

I wouldn't suggest ANY messenger bag for the m17x. Too heavy in weight and investment to lug around loosely like that. Slappa backpacks can easily carry all those accessories you mentioned.

I just recently got my Slappa backpack and couldn't be more satisfied. While I'm sure there are other great and cheaper alternatives, I think this is the best traveling backpack to lug around the massive m17x. The M.A.S.K backpack really lets you customize it, which I like.

I ordered one of the newer "faces" to the backpack, the Transit face, which you can switch out with other faces depending what you need. I got the interior red (cuz I like red if you haven't noticed the laptop...). I also got the "Revolution" art design, which also is customizable. My m17x fits nicely, and like I said, traveling wise, if you're going through airports you don't want to take it out and the backpack opens fully for quick-scan.

What are the straps like on Slappa M.A.S.K.? I ride my bike everywhere and would be carrying the bag with me. Do the straps have a cross-chest connector or waistband?

From all the video reviews I've seen, the MASK doesn't have a chest or waist band connector. Not sure why though.

How many pockets does the Transit have on that face?

Has anybody tried fitting m17x into Oakley Icon?
I like style of oakley backpacks but two models are designed for 17inch laptops.
Oakley S.I and Oakley kitchen sink.
Kitchen sink is way too big for my taste and dont like messenger bag.
icon is perfect design and size but think its too small for m17x.
has anybody tried fitting m17x into icon? dont need to be in laptop slot. Already have separate sleeve for m17x.

btw if you are in military, usstandardissue(oakley military site) oakley stuff for 50% off msrp.
But color choices are either black or khaki.

I posted this in the accessories forum but figured I would let you guys know in here. Slappa is having a giveaway contest on their FB page. All you gotta do is register and like the page. I just placed my order and found out about it. So, just an FYI.

Yeah, not sure why it doesn't have a chest strap, but the shoulder straps do have two small bands on each strap that you could practically rig yourself one. I'm assuming the small straps are for additional accessories like a cell-phone holder.

The Transit face has three pockets; the front pocket is the smallest and is meant for holding small things like a passport or keys; the bottom pocket is medium sized and can hold stuff like a camera; the top pocket is the largest and can hold a couple tall energy drink cans.

I got the orion backpack for 59.99 on amazon shipped. So far, this pack is absolutely phenomenal. The profile is slim with just the laptop in it, but still expands to fit almost anything. I had a TON of stuff in this bag this weekend and it held it all with no trouble what so ever. Straps could be SLIGHTLY more padded, but the back padding is superb. Anyone looking for a decent bag should definitely check out the orion. One thing i would recommend is to get a sleeve for the laptop to put on before you slide it into the laptop compartment as the padding in there is kind of lacking.(or maybe im just ocd :))

Still remains a mystery. You should buy it and report back :) Or get the Beacon and report back :D

You're not OCD, don't worry. (Read all of my posts about backpacks and you'll know what I mean ;)). I agree on everything you said, btw. I've added extra padding to the base, and add extra to the sides and a "sheet" of padding into the sleeve for when I pack heavy. Otherwise, the additional base padding is fine.

Cant go wrong with the AW orion backpack, if you look around you probably get it cheaper than the AW price.
