CF 5870s on Dell US Website!!!

Do we have any idea what kind of performance increase the CF5870 will be compared to the CF4870?

how hot till CF 5870 run in the M17x r2? does the R2 have the built in 9400 also btw?

We don't know the answer yet but if I had to guess, the GDDR5 will run quite a bit hotter than the GDDR3 in 4870s and so will the memory controller. There is no integrated chipset (9400) in the M17x-R2.

 

It most likely will be more than a month before you will be able to buy a stand alone upgrade kit of the 5870 CF. One of my sources said today that they are setting aside the quantities they have of these for just new M17x orders. Sorry

 

from browsing the net, it says 80-95 degrees! i had my old 280 which was always on 85 (was defective) and it was uncomfortable on the AWSD keys, so i hope its alot kooler!

 

I think those with M17x-R2's and a single 5870 are running cooler than that, maybe in the upper 70s. M15x owners run much hotter.

 

Just got home and I'm "In Production". EDD: 6/2/2010

 

I wonder how long it will be until CF 5870's are configurable on the Dell Canada site.. I sure hope it's soon. I still may just wait until June 15-17 to see if Alienware will be releasing a new product or an updated M17x with things like USB 3.0 (not important to me but will help with resale value) or any other new improvements, or to see what the final spec sheet is for the Clevo x7200.

 

Hopefully this will hit Europe soon

I'm going to get a new cpu from Ebay as soon as I sell my old m17. I got this thru the EPP site and saved some cash. Man I cannot wait!!

Do you need to purchase the 240W A/C adapter if you are getting dual 5870's or will it come with it?

 

Hmm my order confirmation says estimated delivery date of 6/18/10 while the online order system says estimated shipping date of 6/2/10. I should be getting free NBD again so that seems like a huge discrepancy between the two dates.
